Appearance: A wonderfully vibrant peridot green. No visible sediment. Very inviting.

Louche: Thick and juicy. Reminiscent of the thick louches of pre-ban absinthes. Bright green and opalescent.

Aroma: Minty fresh and bracing. Herbaceous and powerful. Lots of wormwood with the perfume of top notch green anise and fennel. Citrus is noticeable as well. Intriguing.

Flavor/Mouthfeel: Thick and tongue coating mouthfeel with just a touch of numbing. Absolutely delicious. Great balance between the holy trinity of herbs (wormwood, green anise, and fennel), as well as a nice complexity delivered by the coloring herbs. Juicy fruit sweetness from hyssop, nice mild bitterness from the petite wormwood, aromatic calamus (I think), and a great citrus undertone. Very refreshing.

Finish: Lasts all day long. Just delicious. Your mouth begs you for more.

Overall: This is an incredible absinthe. Truly one of the greats. If you can get a bottle of this, you should. Highly recommended.

This is an absinthe experience you don’t want to miss out on. If you want something that is a comparable quality to the Jade Liqueurs absinthes with a refreshing, and perhaps even a citrusy twist, look no further than Grön Opal.

Appearance: Absolutely gorgeous, rich peridot green with no sign of sediment. Very aesthetically pleasing.

Aroma: The presence of the holy trinity is very apparent, yet there’s something tart, citrusy, and floral that complements the holy trinity exquisitely. Even the aroma is mouthwatering.

Louche: Incredibly thick, impenetrable light green louche with flashes of gold and tendrils of blue.

Flavor/Mouthfeel: All of the qualities you know and love from absinthe, with an incredible floral and citrusy twist. It’s the sour candy of the absinthe world, but it’s not overtly sweet. That being said, this absinthe is plenty sweet without sugar. The mouthfeel is seductive, substantive and silky.

Finish: Makes your mouth water, begging for more. A gentle botanical tingle on the tongue with a whisper of citrusy tartness lingers long after you’ve swallowed.

Beautiful peridot color pre-louche. It turns a thick olive color when water is added -- each drop of water sends white-ish plumes down into the absinthe, like the fog on an old horror movie set. It's beautiful to watch.

A fragrance of black pepper, wormwood, and herbs.
The taste is heavy on the wormwood, but in a good way. This is a serious absinthe -- Kurt Russell or Lee Van Cleef. It doesn't pull any punches. There's enough natural sweetness to balance that out though and, despite the instructions on the back of the bottle, I found that I preferred it without sugar (which seemed to clash with some flavor in the absinthe).
Overall, a very good absinthe.

This is one powerful absinthe. Hardy, thick and can take plenty of water. Not a sweet, or mellow drink at all, but an in your face herbal explosion. A definite masculine profile. What's not to like?
If you prefer the stronger Swiss verte styles, then this one is for you.

Appearance: Intense peridot green. Deeper than average for a verte, still completely natural looking.

Louche: very intense trails and colors during the formation, with lots of orange. Then all of a sudden, like a thunderstorm, it becomes very thick, while still retaining the clear top layer. Even at 1:5 it remains thick and green, with bluish reflexes. A real pleasure for the eye.

Aroma: Mostly wormwood, with anise and fennel. Very herbaceous. Somehow spicy like fresh ginger. Aroma changes by the minute.

Flavor/Mouthfeel: Consistent with the aroma, it’s very creamy in the mouth. No alcohol, in spite of the high grade. This is an absinthe that can be diluted higher than usual because of its sheer intensity. There is a special flavor I only experience here that may be due to calamus or to the use of wild herbs. It tastes like wild wood indeed.

Finish: Long lasting in its complexity, deeply satisfying.

Overall: As a newcomer to absinthe, I tend to fall in love with any new good absinthe I taste, but this one is really special, it ticks all my boxes. It’s packed with flavors. It can be diluted much higher than usual for absinthes of its grade. It tastes like wild grass, and when compared to the best French ones it makes them look too well mannered. After one week I realised that to me one glass of this absinthe is enough, so satisfying and powerful it is. Most other absinthes I have now look dull.
