Absente with wormwood

Recommended Posts

I found a bottle of "Absente / Absinthe Refined / 110 proof".

The back label has "Bitter Aux Plantes D'Absinthe / Now with wormwood", and is bottled in France, imported by Crillon Importers LTD.

This was found at the Class Six store on the Army base. The price point is about $40.00 out the door, so I'm giving it a try.

I'm new at this, my taste buds say "not bad". What do you think? or

When I was in college, we would drink the cheapest beer we could find. It was the hallmark of excellence to find a six pack for under a dollar (this was a few years ago). It wasn't bad, perhaps but it wasn't in the same category as the wonderful handcrafted ales I try to keep in my fridge, now.

I'd say this probably rings true for Absente products. They aren't bad but they aren't particularly wonderful, either. Worse, they weren't created by someone with a love for absinthe, its history and its creation but rather, thrown together by someone out to make a buck.

No, your taste buds didn't deceive you, they aren't bad like Hills or LTV and it will serve as a good reference point for you.

Our staple was Schmidt's Bavarian (which we, naturally, called Barbarian). It was a paltry 69 cents a six, which was cheaper than soda. It wasn't much, but it was the perfect accompaniment to those five cent wings. :wheelchair:

I remember buying a case of generic beer back in my youth. I don't remember the price, nor the taste, thank God! Back then it was definitely quantity over quality...

My beer of choice in 1st year was Crest. It was 10% and came in a kingcan for $2.10 (this was less than 10 yrs ago). At that time 2 of them would do the trick.

My friends and I used to say while drinking it: "1/3 dentists recommend Crest"
