Best American distributer (not Sams in Chicago)?

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any input of where to go from inside the US? Also. I'm shocked that with La Fee's Absolut-like marketing campaign, that they aren't in the US!

Drink Up New York has a great deal on shipping and carries both absinthes available in the US.

I hear BevMo is good but since they don't deliver to Montana.

I like Mission for most of my non-absinthe needs. They have a pretty good selection and sometimes, great prices.

I'd like to hear reports on other US distributors, too.

I would like to encourage local liquor stores and trendy restaurants in my area (55082)

to offer absinthe.

I want to direct their attention to a Minnesota distributor that can get it.

Can you give me contact info?

I'll take care of the cheerleading section, plus I have some attractive literature.

I went into my local BevMo a few months ago and talked to the Manager in an attepmt to get them to start carrying it. He wouldn't believe me that real absinthe is now available in the good ol' USofA.

Oh, I get it!

If I would only PTFA, I wouldn't need to ask such a question, so I don't deserve a response.

Am I getting warm?

Ahhh, the afflictions of a workaholic. No time to sit and read.

Talk about timing. I stopped by BevMo on my home from work today. I found their last bottle of Kübler sitting on the shelf. I went to the register to pay for it, and the cashier directed toward the box full of Lucid sitting on the floor behind the counter. It was the first box of Lucid they've received, and it came in today.

Thanks for the heads up, Alyssa.

Um, no.

It could be that no one actually knows the answer to your question.

*ulp* No one knows a liquor distributor who handles Kübler or Lucid that I

could tell local sellers about?

Okay

Sorry, Swatantra. I guess I didn't understand the question.

I thought you wanted info on a Minnesota distributor. Hell, I don't even know a Montana distributor! I wasn't ignoring, I just don't know an appropriate answer. :)

The thing to do is probably contact the importer directly and ask their assistance for the nearest distributor of their product in your area. Conversely, chat up a local liquor store manager and find out who the area distributors are and jump on them to get in contact with the importer.

Now back to my training for the decathalon.

You might also consider checking out the Minnesota State Liquor Authority web site.

Though the site is poorly organized, lacks a search function, and is limited in information, easily accessible. It seems designed to deter the seeker of information. But I know you're pretty diligent and won't be thwarted!

Thank you, T, Pan and Dakini for the great leads!

I'll get to work on it.

We're into graphic design and I own a print shop, so I'll be offering a flyer soon

to promote and educate. I hope you approve.

I'd left a message at Tres Imports with Dan Dotson letting him know of problems getting Kübler here. I did get a brief call back and he said is was working on getting info for me by early next week.

So it is the chance of progress.

Perhaps this should be in the "Pissed Off" thread, but I checked the Absente site (since the liquor store owner kept mentioning it). They've got a picture of Van Gogh (from a self-portrait, I wonder if they bothered to license the image) saying how they are the first legal absinthe in the US since 1912. Since a beverage made with southernwood (Artemesia abrotanum) instead of grand wormwood (Artemesia absinthium) isn't absinthe I'd say this is another absinthe imposter.

I had to go check for myself. Unbelievable:

Absente, The first Legal Absinthe in the US since 1912!

How did we bring Absinthe back to the US? We replaced the banned botanical Wormwood with a less bitter cousin, Southern Wormwood, also known as "petite absinthe." Southern Wormwood contains legal levels of Thujone, making Absente the first and only modern version of the legendary and notorious Absinthe.

You couldn't ask for more eloquent proof that they don't know absinthe.
