What ya drinking tonight?

Recommended Posts

Woke up to see half a louched glass of Pacifique left from last night...(I know, it's practically criminal just leaving it lying around like that all night)

Just replaced the kitchen appliances in a house I plan on selling, and realized I had TWO full bottles of Pimm's.

Turns out, we actually have 1 and 7/8 bottles of Pimms in my house after all.

Now I'm curious, which appliance did you stash the bottles in?

Water.

Same for me. *sigh*

No alcohol has been consumed here since the end of January.

Same here. Except from December.

That is going to change for me, this evening. I'm going to have a little absinthe with other enthusiasts later.

Drinking a delicious Americano after a fantabulous St. Patrick's Day night.

I learned that Taiwanese can, in fact, play blues music and improvise classic rock solos a la David Gilmour.

I would be drunk on Guinness, had I not danced myself sober for about six hours straight.

Hehe I was dancing so much that some guy approached me and asked "where can I get some pills?"!!!

No Guinness (yawn) for me today, which is probably no surprise.

Instead, a St Paddy's day tradition of a very fine Unibroue. This year's is the 2011 Grande Reserve aged in French oak.

The usual Unibroue combo of very pronounced Belgian yeast, banana, clove, and cardamom esters, along with oak, vanilla, and white grape in the finish.

Very creamy with a dense, rocky mousse of a head. It does, indeed, resemble Chimay Grande Reserve more than a little.

Smooth and very sophisticated (not that I'm worried about that rubbing off on me :pirate: ), and absolutely delicious.

I'll agree Absomphe, Guinness is boring as ****. I hadn't drank it since I came to Taiwan a few years ago. I forgot how bland it was (and I'm used to watery Taiwanese or Japanese beer).

The only places in the city I can drink good beer are some cigar bars. Which, for a fair price, offer Cuban delicacies, Belgian brews, and Scotch whiskys for a very fair price. I should visit them more often!!

Does America still have that embargo on Cuban imports? I'm thinking of moving there soon.

Yes, unfortunately, it does.

But I imagine that the beer selection here probably far eclipses the stuff available in Taiwan, so it would be a good trade-off.

I picked up some Guinness imported from Ireland a couple of weeks ago.Different label & higher octane.According to my liquor store, the usual Guinness is made in Canada?!!!!! It was alot different,a little hoppier, creamier,& more carbonation.I liked it alot.Hope to see it on tap somewhere soon.Ice water for me tonight & plenty of it! Had a little too much fun "on the Ridge" last night. :3872-DrunkBanana:

Packed a little L'Italienne in a flask to take to a party. Someone's 50th bday, held in a hotel banquet hall. Remind me never to drink absinthe from a green plastic cup ever again.

Oh Lord you have no idea. This place is a beer wasteland. An absinthe wasteland as well. Scotch and Cognac can be bought for cheap at the corner store though, strangely enough. I think it's an image thing.

Drinking ginger tea.

We should collect 'Tales of Woe', so others can learn.

Kinda like:

1, Neat absinthe in styrofoam cup dissolved said cup.

2, I left a bottle on its side, and the cork added some horrible flavors.

3, I left a bottle in the fridge and ruined.

4, I thermally shocked and antique fountain...

Etc.

But, with your own first person experiences. (the above are just samples)

Lucid.

Could have been ridge, if the flying monkey had left the note on the door, instead of the lawn. Thankfully I hit the brakes on my mower before I could shred it.

When Lucid is served strong it is quite sweet. Some might not be too endeared by it. Being a sweet tooth, I'm ok with it.

Bought a couple of Sherry glasses, they seem to fit glasses shown in old films where a reservoir glass is used to louche, but then distributed to smaller stemware. I'm very happy with them.
