What ya drinking tonight?

Recommended Posts

Man, I hate you... :P

Cracked open my new bottle of Woodford Reserve Four Grain Master's Selection. Anyone who likes a good whiskey will love it. I highly recommend checking it out.

Don't playah hate me for that, Shabba, but for something more relevant...

Like maybe the pre-ban sample of Eouard Pernot 65 I'll soon have the privelege of, well, sampling. :)

From all accounts I've gleaned, so far, it's richer in flavor, and aroma than Pernod Fils, and just plain even more betterer.

Of course I'll post my impressions as soon as it arrives.

Just back from the best breakfast of my entire life. I went to French cafe called La Note. I had eggs scrambled with goat cheese and chives, a side of herb roasted tomatoes, and toast. 2 mimosas. I bought a phone charger on the walk back, now it's time to charge up the phone, and start giving people a buzz!

Okay....so last night was really the worst food and drink in a long time in our town. Hopefully not to ever be repeated. Bad draft Guiness even-tasted watered down. Then the worst fish in the fish and chips we have even seen. Couldn't even cut it with a knife. Sent back-got more that seemed a little better but.....still not very good. Bad night. Luckily the music we went to was great and cheered us up. Today, French roast coffee and.....a little later.....Abyss on the agenda before we head to Water St. bar to test Skip's Winter Ale and have a early Mardi Gras night of Zydeco music and dancing.

In a few hours, I'm planning on having some N.O. and some E72 (my first drinks in nearly a month!). Tomorrow morning I'm leaving for MN for a week. I probably won't be back on the forum until the 24th. See all of you then!

Safe travels!

Drinking a Bloody Mary infused with The Essence of Emeril as I like my Mary spicy and hot! Gonna see what's happening downstairs in the casino in a bit.

It's early and I'm surfing for beach house rentals in Southwest Washington. I'm giving a little thought to what I might make for dinner tonight, too. Sipping a glass of 1797 makes the process even more pleasant. Looks like a nice Saturday evening.

Started with a little Lagavulin and now sharing Duplais with a friend, who knows what will come after that.

:drunk:

Holy Shit, Lister! What does your friend know that you are about to do?

Pre-ban? Pshaw. Who cares about those? :P

Is this a sample from the new bottle that Oxy had up recently?

Mmmmm, could be...

Tonight, a terrific, and fragrantly dry hopped IPA at the Anacortes Brewery, followed by their barleywine, which has a really syrupy body, and a decent dosage of hops, but not quite enough to balance off all that malt...the stuff has an original gravity of 1144. In order to get rid of that residual sweetness, I finished up with another of those wondrous IPAs, which taste like a single-hopped Cascade variety. This brew is better than anything I've tried from the cask at Boundary Bay Brewing in East Bumfuck.

I finished up my first bottle of Duplais Verte tonight and I mixed in some Balance to make a full dose. It was a wonderful concoction! Also had a glass of an awesome verte from some friends. Now perhaps a Nouvelle-Orléans.

Seems to a bit of that going around..

Well after all the praise I heard about the Nocturnium, I was a little disapointed, :(

Switched over to some of my old favorite, North Coast Brewery Brother Thelonius Abby Ale

Well, after quite a few Bloodies and a COMPLETE degustation in the seafood department, I took a turbo nap which lasted a bit longer than anticipated. Now I'm wide awake and am gonna go down to see the masses.

Absomphe, I thought of you as I looked in the beer section of a nearby liquor store earlier in hopes of, well, you know. To no avail. I did see some Moose Drool and a couple others mentioned here.

Soft drinks tonight. Many of you are probably sleeping now except maybe, DW, the other west coast crew and you European early birdies. :)

A couple Vieux Carré cocktails, yummy and strong.

What's that, Grey?

I have nothing non-alcoholic to drink in my room! Not even water to louche. I think I'll have to have a dram of Perique this morning before I go off on an adventure.

Hmm.... should I try Chinatown or The Haight?

Absinthe Larsand. I have forgotten how much I like this absinthe from Andorra.

Can't find it offered anywhere.

Lounge logs suggest it was at one time offered by FSC.

Some sources seem to say that the Larsand and the Huguet come from the same distillery, and the labels are similar. But Kallisiti's notes in the FV buyer's guide indicate different locations for the "factories", and say that the Larsand is distilled, while the "Huguet" brand, which is sold by several online vendors, is a macerated oil mix.

Hello good people,

I'm sitting here in front of the computer, with my very first glass of absinthe, the VDF. I mixed it t about 5 to 1, as I'm not a lover of too potent a drink. Even then I was preparing myself for a bit of a bitter potent shock.

Well, what a surprise I got! A lovely refreshing sweet drink, with a slight potency underlying it.

This encourages me to try it with a bit less sugar next time. I have to say I'm a bit bowled over by it. A good anise taste, bloody good value and tasty too!

I'm thinking this could be the start of something big :D Already thinking of further drinks to try.

I'm having to force myself to savour it slowly and not just swig it.

I can recommend VDF to any beginner who wants to try absinthe without breaking the bank.

Cheers!

Jeff.

We have tried 8 samples. The VdF is the one that I find to be the most dramaticly different. I'm not good enough at it to quantify but I honestly can't say that I like one any better than the other. I really like all the ones I've tried. (thanks to the info here)
