What ya drinking tonight?

Recommended Posts

Thanks everyone. A sick student hugged me and wished me Merry Christmas. Thanks for the present, kid. I hope Santa puts reindeer shit in his stocking.

Even though it's almost balmy here, I'm finishing off a bottle of Montmartre, my favorite holiday absinthe. I see Kallnacher made a "Christmas Absinthe" this year, although I doubt it can be any more appropriate than Monty.

Nymphadora, you gotta get over that hugging thing. Avoid physical contact with children at all costs, they're all carriers.

I'm having my first sample of the Kallnacher and the FG tonight. I'm laying low and working up the energy to be all festive with the family tomorrow. A Joyeux Noel to all for whom that is an appropriate wish this evening. :holiday:

I've been curious about Kallnacher but not enough to buy any. This evening is a quiet one. All our plans fell apart and here I sit, sipping on decent wine. Tomorrow looks like it's going to be lunch at the casino buffet.

Ah, tomorrow, the day to break out the goodies that have been stashed. Perhaps I should offer an apology in advance.

Best wishes to all

Tomorrow is a great day to appreciate family and friends near and far. Sometimes, to appreciate family being far. ;)

I thought the Kallnacher was alright but for the same size and price, I prefer the Elixir du Pays des Fées and Kübler. But that's just my opinion and not worth a plug nickel.

Ah, I have EdPdF and K53. I enjoy them. Both are, in my opinion, very good buys. I found more change to roll but it will be 2007 before I make another order. ;)

Thanks everyone. A sick student hugged me and wished me Merry Christmas. Thanks for the present, kid. I hope Santa puts reindeer shit in his stocking.

I heard Santa isn't real.

Which would explain why I never get any presents. ;)

Actually, I remember pestering my mom about Santa not being real, and she was denying it, so finally she just yelled at me, "OK, YOU'RE RIGHT! SANTA IS NOT REAL!" Then I went to my room and cried because I was hoping that he actually was real. That was probably my first experience with dissapointment in the real world, and the beginning of my long, slow descent into madness and despair. :pirate:

I'll be spending Christmas alone this year, with a broken down car. Took it to the mechanic the other day, got it fixed, and on the way home something else broke. Hmm... suspicious, no? He isn't charging me to fix the second problem (which was a snapped bolt that they won't have in stock until mid week).

But, in spite of a broken down car, no friends/family (due to living in a new city), and no Santa Clause, i'm in a pretty good state of mind this holiday. Now, on to my glass of NO. Cheers! And Nymph, hope you feel better soon. Just flunk the kid in return for getting you sick. That'll learn 'im! ;)

Had dinner with family tonight, and finished of one of my Brother Thelonius Ales. Now after getting the little one to bed, having some Arak and finish wrapping some gifts.

I know I haven't been good enough for St. Nicholas to bring me any absinthe :P , so will have to deal with Arak and some strong eggnog.

Everyone have a good one!

Nymph, I will have a drink for you, and wish you well.

I'm still drinking my NO because Santa didn't bring me anything new to drink. Although I do have Un Emile and Amer. I guess I'll just have to buy some new myself.

This stuff doesn't louche as well with this lump of coal in place of the sugar. B)

I'm watching Les Miserables. Great movie (and book of course). Don't know about the musical.

Ah, Christmas. This night is for tasting the finer offerings from friends and very good folks here.

Small drinks, MdC verte and blanche, MoA, Verte Lune, Woormwood Blanche, 1797, L'Artisanale and Jade 1901. There is a good chance I've forgotten one or two but all in all, it has been a very pleasant evening.

The properties of each are way nice. Made for a nice evening watching, or acting like I was, TV with the most precious bride.

Had my fountain next to my recliner and all is well. Great company and I'm not sure what was on TV.

Thank you all and to all a good night. ;)

Lots of beer as usual. Hobgoblin (in a brown bottle for a change so no light struck beer here), Rasberry Saison, ...

Jade NO.

I think i like it better after it ages a bit. I have two 325ml bottles I racked from a full bottle a year ago. One of the two has oxidized a bit and I find it smoother than the fresher one.

Lune Verte before dinner. Also had an Anchor Steam Beer while walking the dog in the mist this evening. Soon it's time for eggnog and fruitcake.

Drinking orange juice. I stayed indoors and played video games all day. Yes, my students are a bad influence.

Wow, it's really been desolate around here these past few days. Does this always happen during the holidays? :(

Anypoop, I started the evening off with a Stoli Blueberi and sparkling pomegranate juice. Lovely. Then I had some egg nog and Tuaca. Decent. Now I'm having some Bombay Sapphire and tonic. I'm trying to get rid of the last of my BS. One more gin and tonic should do it. I'm listening to a new CD as I imbibe--John Legend.

Here's to Dad for giving me some absinthe funds for Christmas! He would be so disappointed to know that that's what the $ he gave me will go towards. But what he doesn't know shan't harm him. :P

I just got home from work and haven't had a drink yet. At least I get to taste wine all day. It's a necessity in my line of work, after all. I got to taste some with a candida mycoderma fault today too. Smelled like pumpkins. Not exactly what you want to have happen to your wine. It was only a 40 gallon batch at least.

I ordered my 1914 cache today, my glasses got here today -- Pontarlier and Torsade, and I'm trying to decide on my next purchase.

Had an absinthe conversation today at the winery with someone doing some tasting. This girl said she tried it once and it was horrible. I asked her if it was Czech, and she said yes. Also said she didn't drink it with any water. So, I had to explain things to her, which got a good number of people within earshot interested. It was kind of fun, but some people were giving me somewhat suspicious looks afterward.
