Absomphe Report post Posted February 21, 2015 (edited) And, in case you're wondering if I'm just doing'that old Lounge thing, and trying to build a sort of deco skyscraper (a la the Chrysler Building in NYC)...no, it's just that damned incredible of a beer, and I can't help it if I'm completely addicted smitten. I'd make a deal with the devil to be able to get into the beer you drink. Some of them sound very, very good. Dearest twin... In all honesty, I can't drink the same beer you can't drink. I just suffer through those celiac symptoms onacuz I'm I true hedonist, and the taste of a truly exquisite beer is worth a night of suffering. Someday, it may bring me to my knees, but damned if I won't go down fighting (and relishing every last taste) . Edited February 21, 2015 by Absomphe

Emerald Report post Posted February 22, 2015 Nothing tonight, but just placed an order for the following which I'll hopefully be imbibing within the next 4-6 weeks. One bottle each: L'Ancienne, La Clandestine, Bourgeois, La Grenouille.
Absomphe Report post Posted February 22, 2015 Whiskey Barrel Aged Bigfoot The barrel characteristics add even more fruitiness, nice vanilla and toasted coconut, but at this stage, they don't mesh so comfortably with the huge hoppiness. Very good, but not great.
Evan Camomile Report post Posted February 23, 2015 Tried a beer and actually liked it last night. Odell's Fernet Aged Porter has entered my short list of beer that I actually like.

Joe Legate Report post Posted February 23, 2015 ADWTD? Damned lazy kids, and they're annoying acronyms! And why are those damn lazy kids annoying acronyms? Personally, I find most acronyms annoying enough by themselves.
Absomphe Report post Posted February 23, 2015 (edited) And I find those damned lazy kids even more than annoying enough by themselves. I guess between the two, we got 'em covered, bro. Edited February 23, 2015 by Absomphe

sardonix Report post Posted February 26, 2015 The last time i was in Buffalo, you practically were a kid. You should make the trip back sometime, you just might not recognize the place... Larkinville, Canalside, Harborcenter, & Riverworks are just some of the good things happening downtown. And of course there's always St Patrick's Day, Allentown Art Festival, Taste of Buffalo, & MusicIsArt... (Sorry if I sound like a Convention & Visitor's Bureau rep)
Absomphe Report post Posted February 27, 2015 (edited) I'd consider making a trip back, except almost all of my old cronies have either passed on, or moved completely away from WNY, so I'd feel like the proverbial fish out of water there now. Those certainly sound like great downtown improvements, though. Ivan the Terrible today. Edited February 27, 2015 by Absomphe

Joe Legate Report post Posted February 27, 2015 I'd consider making a trip back, except almost all of my old cronies have either passed on, or moved completely away from WNY, Not since Joe Ferguson was QB. An oatmeal stout of my own device.
Absomphe Report post Posted February 27, 2015 Yup, I remember Ferguson quite well. And then there were all those hand-offs to O.J...oh, wait, never mind. A snifter of the inimitable Fremont Coffee Cinnamon Bourbon Abominable as a proper eye opener this morning.

greytail Report post Posted February 27, 2015 Its the cellar reserve aged in bourbon barrels.
Absomphe Report post Posted February 27, 2015 Glad to see you found that! It's terrific, but not quite in the same league with the brandy barrel reserve. Hopefully, when that's next released, it'll also turn up on the same shelf.
greytail Report post Posted February 27, 2015 Yeah. Not sure why they alternate years between Brandy and bourbon barrel aging. But it's better than nothing.
greytail Report post Posted February 27, 2015 What would be a good Brandy barrel aged beer available now?
Absomphe Report post Posted February 27, 2015 I'm sure it all boils down to economics. And, for the record, It's much better than nothing. NC Bourbon Barrel Aged Old Stock is probably in my top five bourbon barrel aged beers. On the other hand, their Brandy Barrel Aged version was my favorite ever, until I tried this year's incredible Anchorage A Deal With The Devil, and Fremont Cinnamon Coffee Bourbon Abominable.
