Snoqualmie Falls Louis Quattorze 14th Anniversary Imperial Stout.

Yes, I'm Krinkles the Clown on an absinthe a beer bender.

You got a problem with that?

I'm toying with the idea of carbonating a batch of Negronis in my iSi soda siphon this weekend. Until then, it's water and bitters (Bitter Truth Creole) for me.

since im almost out of Ridge and WW im tempted to pick up a bottle of Corsair Red on my way home tonight to try.

The room it smelled heavy of drinkin',

and the sad silent song, made the hour twice as long,

as I waited for that sun to go sinkin'.

Stoopid bonus and refund. Hurry up will ya!

I just had my first ever glass of Ricard pastis, followed by a glass of Jade 1901.

I don't think comments are necessary. 1901 may not be the best absinthe out there, but...

Only good thing about Ricard that it's still more palatable than anisy-bittery absinthe-wannabes of that price range :)

Just finishing a bottle of szilvapálinka (local plum spirit). Never thought that a non-aged 104 proof spirit could be this mild and tasty at the same time.

Sadly, I enjoyed the Ricard more than all of the faux-absinthes that are three times the price. If you don't think of it as an absinthe, it's not so bad. It's too sweet and licorishy, but still better than any absinthe available in Taiwan.

And yes, I suspect the Jade absinthes are some of the most expensive absinthes on the market - if not the most expensive (can anyone verify that?). I bought three bottles for 15 percent off and free shipping to Taiwan, and it was still a steep price.

I just spent $118 on Ancienne, and I believe Sauvage was more...so no, not the most expensive.

Personally I really did enjoy the JL 1901 I tried, my only small gripe was the neat appearance, but as I learned with l'artisanale, that don't mean xit.

Pastis is better than some of the poorer offerings, (my bro prefers it to Lucid, but not to VC, Pacifique, Sauvage, RiV, Rib, MoL, and the other good absinthes), but not by much. After I tried Pacifique, I gave my brother a nearly full bottle of Ricard.

The last of the generously donated Marteau bottle. So nice to drink good absinthe again. Louching with my homemade dripper helps.

Some Old Rasputin.

Sad, but had to sink a whole glass of MoL. I had run out of bottled water and filled my sports bottle with ice and tap water. Here in FL, that city water is really chlorinated extra well. One of the reasons I drink bottled water. Anyway, if you let the water sit a bit the smell and taste seems to evaporate. So I thought it would be fine. After the water had chilled I louched up a glass. When I went to to a smell test, I instantly knew something was afoul.

After getting the ratio I wanted I tasted it. Wow, absinthe with a very strong and lingering aftertaste of bleach/chlorine. Sad, but the sink got that one. I have learned my lesson well though.

Hey, stranger!

Sierra Nevada Hoptimum tonight. Loads of hops, herbs, flowers, pine needles, spruce, tropical fruits, mango, papaya, grapefruit peel, blood orange, almost slightly smoky. Long, hoppy, bitter finish. What's not to love? :dribble:

Some rum drink at a philippino bar then some rum drink with an absinthe mist at death & co. Then a sazarac then a sea mist or sea foam or something with vieux pont then the bartender gave me a lil taste of something special then I got really adventurous and did karaoke and drank a corona. I'm in bed now. Good night.

Lost Abbey Deliverance.

This one is beautiful, and it doesn't make squeal like Maxwell the pig.

It's a blend of bourbon barrel aged Serpent Stout and brandy barrel aged The Angels' Share.

There's more brandy than bourbon in both the nose and the flavor, and the alcohol is very restrained for the 12.5% abv

The flavor is immensely complex with brandy, chocolate, caramel, raisin, (big) plum, fig, date, leather, tobacco, vanilla, oak, rum, cardamom, and a touch of smoke.

The body is more silky than syrupy, and the carbonation is very soft and minimal.

This is a perfect marriage of the two beers, and I find it a notch or two better than even Firestone Walker 15, and definitely the best (non sour) beer that I've tasted from Lost Abbey.
