After spending the day in the distillery making absinthe, it's time for a Martini using the house gin.

Earlier this evening, I shared some fine absinthe's with friends in the Twin Cities.
Now at home and drinking a Crispin Cider.

Food at Brasserie Beck today, then several different brands of cider in a bit of an informal comparison.

Appall was a bit too cereally. Blackthorn tasted good, but lacked carbonation. Strongbow was well carbonated, but lacked flavor. Bulmers is still one of my favorites. Neither of these unseated it.

I don't know a lot about fermentation, but I find the variability between all of those interesting, and I haven't tried any of them.

Cherry pepsi and water tonight. The louche sucked on both, but such are the sacrifices when staying the night at a potential in-law's place. He also doesn't like shitty films.

I quite like Strongbow, and have for some time. I generally keep a bunch of it at the house.

Of those three, Strongbow was a clear winner. I liked the flavor, but it wasn't quite as crisp and tart as I remembered it being. I'd give it a B+. Aspall gets a C, and Blackthorn a C+.

By the way, that's a perfect thing to say to someone who's hopelessly hedonistic.

Ridge Silvertip gin and tonic......a little mint to brighten it up. Tasteeee! Cheers!
Some folks may cringe each time I use the term "Booze" regarding these high quality drinks.
I mean no offense. There are bottles of extraordinary booze out there. I've tasted a few. Relax.

Practicing my ad-hoc mixology.

1. 2 shots Kraken Rum with 1 shot Root on the rocks. Turned out well but I used to drop a shot of rum into root beer floats so I knew this already.

2. 1 shot each of Dancing Pines Chai Liqueur and their Espresso Liqueur on the rocks. A nice dirty chai, might be better with another shot of chai and cut with milk instead to make a "Double Dirty Chai" of sorts.

3. Mix 1 and 2 together. Not advised, bad idea. Kinda gross.

Pacifique, and Stone Russian Imperial stout.

Not blended, that would be totally disrespectful to each of them.

I haven't tried the Labyrinth, but I like the Port brewing Old Viscosity.

However, if you get a chance to try the Older Viscosity, it's far superior.
