Greetings from Southern California-Recommendations Quality Absinthe

Recommended Posts

I am looking to purchase/invest in my first bottle of quality Absinthe. Does anyone out there have any suggestions?

I'm considering:

L'Ancienne

Absinthe Jade 1901

Absinthe Authentique

Absinthe Roquette

Any and all suggestions? I'm tending to lean towards the L'Ancienne.

Comments welcomed!!

Welcome to the Forum!

I would recommend reading the absinthe reviews to see what appeals to you. There are a wide variety of absinthes available including several made in the US that rival anything from Europe. The ones you are considering are certainly worthy but taste is such an individual thing, it's difficult to say, "You should get :censor1: ."

Welcome!

There isn't a bad bottle on your list. Try whichever one you want first, but don't resist the temptation to put all of them under your belt.

Hi and welcome!

Socal has some good options off the shelf, and don't forget to try some of the American brands that are as good or better than many imports. Some of my favorites are the Ridge/Vilya, Pacifique, Leopold, that can be found locally.

Welcome! I'm in SoCal too. BevMo carries Vilya Verte, which I highly recommend for your first absinthe. From your list, I'd recommend Jade PF 1901.

Let us know what you decide!

I find that I purchase domestic Absinthe mostly.

Your list is a damn good start.

There are some damn fine distillers in the lower 48.

Good luck and have fun!
