I haven't heard of any plans for the Great American Absinthe Festival for this year, and was wondering if it is still going to happen?  Even if we can't have a full blown festival, maybe we can have another get together.  Last year's was fun and educational.  Thanks in advance!

As many of you may have surmised by now, GAAF isn't going to happen this year.  I've simply been too swamped with business matters to think about anything else (hence my infrequent visits here).

However, we are long overdue for a casual get-together and that's in the plans for possibly next month. Anyone up for a quick visit to the Pacific Northwest?

Yup. Maybe we can even have a group tour of a few local distilleries.

If you don't like anise at all, you're not likely to care for any decent absinthe, as absinthe is an anise flavored drink. It's kind of like asking if there are any good beers that don't taste like hops or malt.----Hiram

Well fuck.  Would love to, but I need more than a month's notice.  I've already got September and October planned out.  Maybe next year.

I would love to have another get together, but with my crazy work schedule, the only days in September I will be able to attend would be the 19th or 20th.  The tour of local distilleries sounds like fun, Marc.  Would it even be possible to have a limited run of absinthe for the Wormwood Society?  I have no idea what would go into it, or even if a small run is even feasible, but it would be cool, and collectible, to have such a product.  Here's to hoping we can pull off another meet and drink!

Well fuck.

My catchphrase.

The room it smelled heavy of drinkin',

and the sad silent song, made the hour twice as long,

as I waited for that sun to go sinkin'.

Yep.  I wince every time I think about it.

As far as a visit, I have no particular timeframe in mind.  If it meant getting some out of towners here, I'd be pretty much up for anywhen.

Some of you may have seen my FB post recently about moving into a new distillery.  That started happening a week ago and we'll be setting up starting this week.  The place is FRIGGIN' HUGE... 6000 square feet huge.  I'm subleasing—an actual lease—from another distillery and there's a lot of room for parties. More on this soon in an appropriate thread.

A limited-edition WS absinthe is entirely do-able.

Perhaps you could have a grand opening/bottling/get together party, when your time permits. I know I would be interested in seeing how a distillery works and would be willing to work cheap (free) for bottling.
