There is no EU definition of absinthe. It failed to pass.
That is less important at the moment, than the bilateral agreements the article talks about.

Although I need to caution everyone interested in this, there is no serious potential ramification of the Russian - Swiss agreement the way I see it. That agreement protects, as far as absinthe is concerned, only the term "Absinthe du Val de Travers". That would not make it impossible for other absinthe producers to make or market absinthe in either country if I am figuring this correctly.
