Hi All,

My son will be heading off to Washington, D.C. and New York City in a couple of weeks.

As he's been raised properly, he's a big fan of craft bars and well-made, interesting cocktails (including the classics).

So I was hoping you could recommend a handful of places to visit in these two cities.

Thanks!

The Washingtonian magazine has a feature in this month's issue about the Top 50 bars in DC. A great read. :)

Some of my personal favorites:

DC:

Columbia Room/The Passenger (reservations only for the former, and a must try experience in the DC bar scene)
Tabard Inn
Jack Rose
Granville Moore's
Hogo

NYC:

Amor y Amargo
PDT
Pegu Club
Dead Rabbit

I don't know much about DC, but in NY, he has to go to The Pegu Club (Audrey's place), PDT, Death & Co., and PKNY.

You might find something over here or here.   ;)

I don't know much about DC,

You should work on remedying that.

For so many reasons: The National Archives, the US Botanic Gardens,  Ace Beverage,  The Jeffersonian Institute, your bar ...

Dead Rabbit has become THE bar to go to/work at in NYC in the recent past.  I am dying to try them.

PDT

Pegu

Bitter Room

Blue Door

Death & Co.

And you'll likely not be able to pull it off, but you can certainly try to go to Milk and Honey.  If you do... lemme know.

Thanks everyone, I've passed the info along.  He'll have to fill me in when he gets back.
