Fig based eau de vie flavored with anise.

 

This drink may have been popular with French colonials in the post-absinthe era in Morocco(?)

Traditionally made by the Jewish population of Morocco.  A Middle Eastern 'moonshine'. Sounds like it may appeal to fans of arak or raki. 

 

Another spirit brought from obscurity by an American micro distillery in Yonkers, NY

Excellent.  Will try this one soon. Love El Massaya and fig newtons. Not so much whole figs though. Too seedy and sweet. But now I could sure drink em.  :drunk:
