Follow up on vintage Belgian absinthe

Recommended Posts

I've been speaking with the gentleman who is selling the mid-1800s Belgian absinthe and I've been able to negotiate a fairly good deal. Due to the fact that the bottles lack any proof of provenance, as well as not having any labels, we can't fully ascertain how old or what marque it is. As a collector, it would be difficult to spend the amount of money he was originally asking for such a 'sketchy' product.

However, that said, it is pretty tasty stuff, so I'd still like to be able to get a bottle, and offer some up as samples to the members. It's an interesting look into what a very old absinthe that has been aged/stored in barrels would taste like.

With the new pricing, we should be able to cover costs at $100 per 30ml sample. Similar to the costs of a 1950's Tarragona.

If anyone is interested, please email me at my hotmail address: Shabba53

If we get more than 10 people interested, I'll pull the trigger.

Another awesome WS member and I pulled the trigger on two bottles, which are now sitting on my bar.

Offer is still on the table. These samples are offered to WS members at cost.

This is an opportunity to taste a very unique and rare absinthe at a price rarely seen outside of very late production Tarragonas.

Email me if you're interested.

My apologies for not sending these sooner. I've been slammed with cases. I can't complain, but it's taken up a ton of time.

In appreciation of your patience, I'll be including a sample of a something else as well.

I hope to get them all out this weekend.

All previously requested samples are now in the capable hands of the flying monkeys. I've added a sample of Tempus Fugit's new Heritage absinthe as a thank you for your patience.

My sample arrived, and it's looking quite pretty and golden. The smell unlouched is herbacous with a kick of iodine. It kind of reminds me of an Islay scotch minus the peat. I'm going to give it a taste this weekend.

Thanks!

My box kinda smelled like absinthe...should I drink it? Maybe it's been tampered with.

(This is how you get free-ban, right?) :sarc:
