'Drinkables' at $30 range

Recommended Posts

'Drinkable' vs 'sinkable' is a matter of opinion of course, but I can squeeze these to in my drinkable list.

These are a couple of good deals at Hi-time

Pere François at $29.99

and La Valote $33.99

I like them both more than Kübler, in particular the Pere François. Just mid shelfers IMO, not on par with Ridge B. or Clandestine, or some other blanches. But hey, it will get you though an 'absinthe drought' , or if you want to try something new for cheep.

I would add Amerique 1912 from Great Lakes Distillery. However, it may not really count for this list as it's only 375ml. A little thin but enjoyable, impressive for a distilleries first attempt.

Isn't the La Valote part of the Willy Bovette(sp?) family of three or four?

I'm thinking it is and if so I've had them all. Drinkable but not spectacular by today's standards. Easy sipping on a sultry evening on the veranda with friends.

I would compare them to session beers. No offense meant. They are plain but not painful at all. The labels are fun and the booze functioned well.

I drank all mine and never whined. I haven't shopped for them in years so I don't remember where I got them.

Don't be afraid to buy it.
