Are ~$70 absinthes getting much better?

Recommended Posts

I like the Lucid. Sure its not a Ridge, VP, or Pacifique or WW, but i like the peppery bite and the legs it leaves on the glass. Course I also like PBR. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Here in Ontario its Lucid or nothing. I buy usually two bottles a month at 64$ each. I get my good stuff from absinthes.com which is usually every 3 months at 80-110$ a bottle. So for bang for buck and availability I guess Lucid is ok.

Lucid IS ok. It ain't pre-ban and it ain't bad czech swill. It's slap in the middle. Wear that around for awhile. ;)

It works! Ta-Daaaa!

I admit, if Lucid was all I could get I'd drink it. If Czech Strong was all I could get I'd drink PBR.

I would love to have Leopold on our store's shelves for $62

I saw Leopold's in two stores in DC; in one it was $99 and in the other it was $72.

I've seen some pretty ancient bottles for $50, but it generally goes for $68 to $72 here as well.

I feel sorry for North Carolina. They have those ghetto state run liquor stores with the exact same stock.

You get Lucid, NV, or Grande Absente.

Or...you smuggle in some Corsair Red like I did. :wave2:

I saw it for $72 at S & R Liquor, $99 at (I think) Barmy's.

Did you buy just two, or a full case?

(let me guess: Schneider's?)

I got all I could afford!

I don't remember the name. The owner was quite friendly and spoke well of Leopold. His shop is on P St NW across the street from the Hotel Palomar. Most of his prices were a little expensive compared to what I'm accustomed to. ;)

Not bad huh? specially at $40. mine keeps getting better with every glass.

It was 64 here but I couldn't resist.

I have noticed in my exhaustive travels looking for good absinthe that the crap stuff is dropping in price.

Have seen Absente for $39 and Lucid for $49 here lately.
