I'm a sucker for anything that says Leopold Bros. on it, so now I have a bottle of Fernet Leopold. I didn't even know what Fernet was until I got home with it and did a little research. So, any cocktail suggestions?

(A bottle of Leopold Bros Navy Strength Gin jumped into my basket as well)

Thanks! Looks like I'm going to have to re-stock St Germain, I ran out a while ago and haven't bought another one yet.

How about a Toronto?

2oz. Rye
1/4oz. Fernet
1/4oz. simple syrup
2 dashes of Angostura bitters

Stir with ice and garnish with an orange zest. A mighty fine drink.

I sip it. It's supposed to be gone with ginger ale.

Edit: that was supposed to be "good", but I like what I said too.

The Toronto is good. I also like the Hanky Panky, one of the oldest Fernet cocktails I know:

2 oz. London dry gin (Beefeater is good)
1.5 oz. sweet vermouth (I like Carpano)
.25 oz. Fernet

Stir with ice and strain into chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with orange twist.

Still need to get me a bottle of that Leopold Fernet...

The Toronto is indeed one of the best cocktails, ever...

A Bitter Story
3 cl Gran Classico Bitter
3 cl Tempus Fugit Fernet del Frate Angelico (or Leopold Bros., of course ;-) )
3 cl Tequila reposado
2 cl Fresh lemon juice
1 cl Sirop de Capillaire (or Agave syrup)
Shake with ice strain into tall glass with crushed ice.
Garnish with mint leaves.

Fernando (Employees Only Cocktail)
1 1⁄4 oz Fernet
1 3⁄4 oz Bianco Vermouth
3⁄4 oz Galliano
1 spg Mint (smacked, as garnish)
Stir, strain, straight up, cocktail glass, smack mint on palm and lay on surface as garnish
Absinthe is always greener in the other glass.™

The song is a good ad, but I still prefer Leopold's Fernet.

I don't always drink Fernet. But when I do, I drink Fernet Leopold.
