I can truly say, I am no bear man, a few are good, but mostly beer is not for my taste buds....

But the sweet and heavenly mead is wonderful!

I can really recommend Valhalla Mjd

Posted Image

It is 15%, and have this wonderful sweet flavor, and its so smooth. Its like liquid silk with honey taste. I have tried a few others, but this is the best so far. Its produced in Denmark.

Try it out if you haven't yet

PS: yes thats a ceramic bottle, and the cork have real cork under the plastic for those that care about that ;-)

Really nice bottle. I drink mead from time to time. I've never seen that particular bottle anywhere.

Thanks for sharing!
Some folks may cringe each time I use the term "Booze" regarding these high quality drinks.
I mean no offense. There are bottles of extraordinary booze out there. I've tasted a few. Relax.

Since I'm into larping/reenactments, this bottle will be saved for those uses among the others :).

I do not know how many places they ship, but if I can be bothered I will find a website one can order from ;)

Thanks, Kjetel! The freight cost is prohibitive at 99, but it's a step in the right direction. Maybe I can get 8 or 10 of my closest friends to order something with me at the same time ;)

Kjetil, have you tried Yggdrasil mead? I had it when I was in Denmark and it comes in a similar ceramic bottle. Definitely one of the best meads I've tried and I would love to be able to ship some to the states.

Valhalla sounds pretty good.

http://www.ratebeer....alla-mjod/9533/

Don't know how reliable a resource that is, though:

Today there are no commercial mead brewers, only some micro brewers in Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

Unless "commercial mead brewers" means something other than what the words plainly say, there are 166 in the U.S.

ratebeer, alot of the comments, it seems like people think its a beer and comment like it. A few peole have a problem with the sweet flavor though. But I love it.

I'm reading the sticker on Yggdrasil, its nontraditional mead, made for those that do not like it as sweet, also its alcohol level is weaker, 10%, mead is best at 14-16% because of the honey.
I cant say for certain without tasting it, but I have a feeling Valahalle Mjd is more "hardcore" mead ;)

You can't take those comments too seriously - clearly a lot of those people don't know what they're talking about (based upon some beer reviews I've seen, anyway).

I like sweet mead, but hardcore also sounds good to me. Hardcore AND sweet, that's the ticket.

I'm sure Abs is about twice the age of George.

Mead is pretty easy to make. One can use champagne yeast that can tolerate 14-16% and still build it so that it's pretty sweet, if one desires. I've seen lots of ceramic bottles at antique stores, and I kind of remember some people on one of the homebrewing forums talk about using them for bottling their homebrew.
