I mean no offense. There are bottles of extraordinary booze out there. I've tasted a few. Relax.

In the first few times the guys went to the cafe', the glasses were smaller than most and I happen to have a few of those. I like 'em. :)

Just my size......as if it matters.

I noticed that too Bill. And they also had a full size glass with a dripper. So did they louche it and then divvy it up into the smaller glasses? I wouldnt mind having a smaller one like that myself.

Gymnopédies & Gnossiènnes by Erik Satie. They're credited right under the video. I've been trying to teach myself the Gymnopedie #1 for years. When you don't play piano, it's much harder than it sounds.

Just to add some extra perspective

Phillip is in love with the model
And a month later, they were engaged
_
Some time later...
_
Prove to me, that your love for me is greater than your addiction to absinthe
_
she fears for his salvation and goes to visit him
_

I think we've seen the modern day remake of this in the forums already Absinthe: The Movie. But really, it's a bit of a Reefer Madness of absinthe... Drink absinthe, you'll kill(?) some stereotypical frenchman and your wife will leave you.

Great film. Highlights the dangers of alcoholism, I just wish absinthe wasn't singled out, the same issues can be had with bud lite.
I love how the regular guys louche one glass, and distribute that to demi-verres. I feel better about doing the same.

Doesn't someone use the still from the man louching a clown sized glass for himself, as an avatar?

OMG, Miguel, please don't tempt some creative photochopper to put that glass in my avatar's hand. :laf:

Yes, I'm Krinkles the Clown on an absinthe a beer bender.

You got a problem with that?

But really, it's a bit of a Reefer Madness of absinthe.

Kinda what I thought as well.

Somewhat reefer madness, because only absinthe is singled out. If you have dealt with alcoholics, they are not fun at all.

I do like how they portrayed responsible drinking, with the artists taking a break and drinking ~1/3 of a glass each.

The absinthe sure looked like the real thing, seeing how it louched quite nicely.

I think it was more a hit at absinthe than alcoholism. One doesn't focus so much on a particular drink without it being part of the lesson of the story. Just like if this was called "Bud Lite" you'd know it was the dangers of bud lite, not american beer.

Prohibitionists and the anti absinthe crowd worked together quite a bit. Prohibitionists put a lot of their early effort into absinthe, since they got wine money to help them, 'weirdos' drank it, and absinthe's high proof also made it an easy target. In many ways it was like reefer madness. For every idiotic pothead, there are scores of 'normal' users.

'normal'

I'm glad you put that in quotes, because without them, that word might well have been construed by some (including this clown) as 'boring'.

Although it's offered for sale, there is also a detailed description of it, and a set of stills with captions. I'd guess it's more than likely that regardless of where you found it, it originated there.

Happy ending? He pours a glass of preban out and then throws the whole damn bottle off the bridge! Freakin' horror story if you ask me.

It's a beautiful piece of music. My wife likes me to put it on and dance with her to it. I like how in the movie it melds into the 2nd piece when the dark side of his addiction kicks in. You hardly notice it. Where the first is somber and mellow the second is more troubled and distraught perhaps? Great tutorial video by the way. Thanks. I'd like my daughter to learn to play it. I would like to try it on the mandolin.
