1867 Newspaper art

This cool illustration is on an original page I found recently, from an 1867 issue of the French newspaper le Charivari.
The skeleton is saying "They want to eliminate my absinthe! Bah! I shall always have the rifle ready!"
This was the decade, from what I understand, when the anti-absinthe movement began to gain some momentum. I love the line work and heavy, dramatic use of shadow in this illustration.
