Interesting article. Journalist screw up, or La Fee misinformation?

During the 1990s, proponents of absinthe, such as Marie-Claude Delahaye of the distiller La Fée Absinthe, obtained century-old pre-ban bottles, like those from famed producer Maison Pernod-Fils, and used their contents to reverse-engineer recipes in a bid to recreate the lost liqueur.

I vote A, but then I'm just a borderline cynic.

Yeah, that's the ticket...

Yes, I'm Krinkles the Clown on an absinthe a beer bender.

You got a problem with that?

We seriously need a "banging one's head against the wall" emoticon, or one who is hanging himself.
They used the word Brew, and should have credited the name Breaux.

It is very slippery writing, claiming "proponents, such as"

"During the 1990s, proponents of absinthe, such as Marie-Claude Delahaye of the distiller La Fée Absinthe, obtained century-old pre-ban bottles, like ..."

This is saying she is a proponent, as are others, and it cleverly avoids actually saying she's the one who PERFORMED the reverse engineering. :poop:

During the 1990s, proponents of absinthe, such as Marie-Claude Delahaye of the distiller La Fée Absinthe, obtained century-old pre-ban bottles, like those from famed producer Maison Pernod-Fils, and used their contents to reverse-engineer recipes in a bid to recreate the lost liqueur. An odd loophole in French law inspired some to sell a similar drink – not labelled “absinthe”, but “aux plants d’absinthe” (from absinthe plants). Now more drinkers in France will get to try the real thing, best blended with water and a lump of sugar to create an eminently sippable cocktail.

Didn't know MCD was a distiller, too bad she doesn't drink alcohol, let alone Absinthe. Oh wait she is of the distiller? Whatever that means. The journalist doesn't seem to know that the stuff sold as "aux plants d'absinthe" will be exactly the same contents inside the bottle and that the law just changed the labeling laws.

Considering the overwhelming muck I'm going to chalk this up as a journalist mistake (ignorance and apathy), as much as I would love to have yet another reason to despise La Fee.

She doesn't drink A LOT, but she does drink. And she does drink absinthe too.

Don't believe everything you see in the media. ;) Whatever she claims in the press isn't what she really does. I drank with her at Tales. So did several other WS members. She tried a couple of Ted's products.

She likes to break antique bistro saucers too.

Blast from the past, 2008 TotC. It sounds like it was an interesting event.

Wow, with her reputation around antiques I wonder how she keeps the museum intact.

Thanks for the info Shabba.

thankth for the arthicle sthupid.
Litany against fear of Absinthe - I must not fear Absinthe. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my Absinthe. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the Absinthe has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Haha...had she actually done that, she really WOULD be the Queen of Absinthe.

Now more drinkers in France will get to try the real thing...

Like La Fee? It was, of course, impossible to find "the real thing" prior to it being legal.

We definitely could use "frusty" over here, but we do have one that's close enough to the latter. :cool-reaper:
