My first Staroplzenecky trip (with fire)!

Recommended Posts

I wish I could see the look on the faces of those reading that    . Cruel joke aside, I've now tasted absinthe (Duplais Balance) for the first time in my life. It was an interesting experience to say the least. I tried without sugar first. Somewhat of a disappointment; the wormwoody bitterness was a bit of a downer. T'was quite drinkable though. I then tried a glass with sugar. Much, much better. I thought that people who drank absinthe with sugar where just romanticist francophiles  I now realize that they're not; it does taste better when sweetened.

It's hard to evaluate something that you've had only two glasses of, but from what I've experienced this far I'd say it's an extremely intriguing beverage! abs-cheers.gif

...and expensive!

You can say that again :(

Coriander is intriguing? ;)

If it's in Duplais Balance, I'd say yes! ;)

Congrats on your first real absinthe! If you like Balance, there's a lot of interesting absinthes out there you're probably going to love.

Some absinthes do, some absinthes don't; some folks like sugar all the time, some occasionally, and some never ever. Ah, the freedom of choice. Edited by Green Baron

In Duplais Balance?

Why, it practically is Duplais Balance.

But then, I loves me lots of coriander.

Depends on one’s desire and palpability to the herbal flavors. Despite absinthes that are overly bitter, I still prefer it without sugar. Course, I am hoping that helps to develop my own palate.

The Duplais Blanche and Balance were my first absinthes (the blanche my first sip). I think for someone experienced with anise (Italian family) but not accustomed to wormwood and its flavor, it’s a good first choice. Kudos; feel free to pop over to the main page and write yourself a review.

Ooo, Balance has lots of Coriander? Add that to the things I must try, I love the spice outside of Absinthe so it's hard to imagine I wouldn't like it in...

Agreed on the expensiveness, but it can be made bearable. I got some great suggestions when I asked how.

Finally, congratulations on your first drink of Absinthe! :dev-cheers:
