While not solely about absinthe, Joe's store is one of the best places in the DC area to find good absinthe and other spirits. If I need anything obscure, I visit him first.

Not only does the article call out the shitt three-tier system, but it gives Joe some nice press.

Nice read, thanks.

My thoughts on the article:

* I don't think the keynote speaker will champion any such cause

* I'm curious as to why DC isn't manacled by the dogma of the three-tier system

* I like Joe

Good read. I'll pass it along.

And what Ron said about D.C. That's a curious thing, and I wonder how applicable to individual states, assuming the big liquor lobby can be overcome.
"The Saint when he is drinking/Is also pleasing God/As if he were praying and singing." - Angelus Silesius, quoted in Simmel's On Individuality and Social Forms, p.391. (Yay for classical sociology!)

"Full bottle in front of me/Time to roll up my sleeves and get to work/And after many glasses of work/I get paid in the brain" - They Might Be Giants "Your Own Worst Enemy."

I guess non-states have some benefits after all. :laugh:
