I'm guessing it is since CC says they are clear, I'm just bummed they don't have special cloth bags for it.

Hmm lemme go put a bug in their (Cheryl and Julie) ears.

I'm super-excited. I've been wanting to purchase from both Cheryl and from Caskill Cellars for a while now.

Wonder if this will share any similarities to WW or MoL.

Not really, other than being green. This is Eric's recipe and Eric's method. Cheryl may or may not have used certain attributes of the former in batches of her own brands (but I think not) and I'm almost certain she never used his method before Blues Cat. This is an Eric-style absinthe. With all due respect and credit to Cheryl, this is Eric's baby.

That was my guess, but I wasn't there. Wasn't he involved in L'Artisanale?

When it comes to Eric and his absinthe.........he's an artist.

We dearly enjoy visiting with him and really looking forward to Blues Cat.

I'm a bit financially embarrassed at this time so I may or may not be able to play.

I may have to wait until the second batch.

As I said...

Too bad I'm broke as a wagon wheel right now. Anybody wanna take up an offering for me?

Especially as "another" absinthe I'm dying to try is returning this week also (or so i hear) :secret2:

The room it smelled heavy of drinkin',

and the sad silent song, made the hour twice as long,

as I waited for that sun to go sinkin'.

That was when Eric and Mr. Grim were turned loose in a distillery in France. Oscar too, if I remember correctly. Blues Cat is on the family tree with L'Artisanale. If there are similarities for Blues Cat, they would be with L'Artisanale, rather than with Cheryl's line. It's more or less a takeoff on something called Texas Green. Not that heavy though. Maybe Texas Green light. It was bottled at 68% I believe; Eric had hoped for 72%. There are some other points of which I'm aware but it's best not to blabber about it too much and just let the chips fall where they may.

Texas Green.

Delicious stuff.

Someone else did a takeoff on that, shortly after the original, which could also have been called Texas Green Light.

It had a somewhat different balance of the Holy Trinity, but was equally wonderful.

Me too. I raced to CC to buy a bottle, but of course it doesn't make sense to buy just one... and of COURSE if you buy two bottles it doesn't quite reach the $150 FREE SHIPPING total. So to get the free shipping you have to buy three bottles. I have a healthy stash right now and simply can't justify spending $200+ to try an absinthe I may not like.

(OMG I think I'm beginning to get some common sense about buying absinthe!)

Muted E5. I can hear Eric's late friend Sam Myers growling "That ain't no blues. That's just some rockabilly BULLSHIT!" But Albert is okay.

+1 on that. Including the bit about the second batch, sadly. Maybe fall though.

Really can't wait to taste. I have ordered 3 bottles from Catskill Cellars (thanks again Julie) even the shipping fee to Czech costs more than price of 3 bottles itself ;) Eric's skills, Kirk's herbs, Artemis absinthe knowledge and Cheryl's alembic is something not to be missed!

`I don't really want to get all squishy about this, but I think this might be what it feels like to witness a major historical event. I've been looking forward to this since I found Artemis' epic tale around Christmas, and gobbled it up like a Hunter Thompson story, or maybe a Greek myth, rooting for our heroes as the fates set obstacles in their path. Then I kind of set it aside, waiting for aging and bottling and hoping I didn't miss out. Life got busy and I didn't know how this might work, if I could somehow reserve or preorder a bottle, or if maybe some cartel of insiders might bogart the whole batch and leave us mere mortals high and dry. Now I get back and find this thread just boiling with anticipation, and once again it looks and feels like the stuff that legends are made of. So I rushed over to Catskill to get my order in and find out they could start shipping tomorrow! It's almost like destiny has led me to this vortex where nature, business, music, and literature fuse into Blues Cat. Last night I found myself reading an Artemis translation while I was stripping herbs from Kirk and drinking MoL. I bet Eric was around somewhere too but I just didn't recognize him. I tell you, there is something weird/magical/cosmic/spiritual/weird going on here that will live in song and folklore for generations. But like I said, I don't want to get all squishy about it.

Tell us some more of the story, Artemis, please?

You failed. You got all squishy. ;)

And knowing Eric and probably all the participants except Artemis, I also am looking forward to what should be a delightful drink. Just don't know when.

Logical. Eric is known for his recipes, Kirk for his herbs, Cheryl for using the aforementioned, and Julie for excellent service. Add them all up and you got a batch sold in one weekend.
Artemis' prose didn't hurt either.

From Catskill:

Blues Cat is yet to be released (bottling slated for Saturday May 5th) and not available to ship until the following Monday

So that's bottled on Saturday, sold out on Sunday, and shipped on Monday. For a product that has never been tasted and had no commercial advertising (that I am aware of, at least.)
