My absinthe is sweating

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I just went to take a look at my absinthe I have been storing for the future, and when I picked up my two bottles of DP and my one View Carrie, I noticed a bit of condensation up at the top of the neck on the inside just above the absinthe level. Is this OK? Normal? Something to worry about?

I keep the bottles neatly in a liquor box, in the dark, in my basement which is always cool.

Andy advice would be awesome!

I've seen mention that this is a function of bottle design. But atmospheric conditions at bottling time, and I suspect, at storage location could impact this. I've also seen mention by knowledgeable distillers that you don't need to worry about it.

btw, pt447, how long do you plan on aging my absinthe?

No plan really. I bought them as soon as they became available just to secure a pair. My absinthe consumption has pretty much stopped for a while. I haven't had a glass in a few months. Don't know why, just think I overindulged as my interest exploded. But I feel a new wave coming on and I'll probably open at least one of your bottles when that time comes!

I will be sure to let everyone know what I think. It should be interesting. The only other absinthe I've tasted that was aged long before I opened it was my bottle of Essai 4. Of course, I'll have to get at least one more each of yours so I have something to compare with the aged bottles!
