Vieux Carre

Recommended Posts

My girlfriend just gave me a bottle of Vieux Carre as an early valentines gift. It is not even available in western Pa yet. She had one of the local Wines and Spirits order one from a store in eastern Pa. When I arrived home from work she had it in my cabinet in front of the other bottles with a red bow on top.

Added the review area for VC.

I get the following message:

when visiting that link, even though I logged into the main site.

Not me. The link took me right there.

Thanks for adding VC to the review section, Brian; I may have to break out my bottle and type up my first one!

Anyone other than Marlow and Ken getting the error message? I can't reproduce it.

Late last night I got the error, but it's fine now.

Edit: 400th post and it's all utilitarian! How uncharacteristic.

That's sad. Perhaps you should do a quick edit and add something totally silly!

An excellent idea! Yes, please add that review.

That's sad.

Yes, and thank you. Though #400's edit does have that characteristic existential malaise, so I'm not completely disappointed. Wait...

Vieux Carre sounds quite appealing from the review. Yum!

Yes, and thank you.

 I heard you laughing at me after Phoenix's post on the music thread!

I've been waiting for the VC to open on the review page. A great excuse to have another taste!

Got me!

To be honest, the image of pop+wine coolers what was got me chuckling, though I can appreciate some good-natured ribbing now and again. :wave2:

It seems I imagined heard that, too. I hope it's not wishful thinking.

If i have to wait for it in ND...

North Dakota? How did I miss that? I taught in Dickinson for 5 years. I have fond memories of the place but I don't think I need to go back. ;)

Yes North Dakota, the land of ice and snow, lutifisk, and lots and lots of open space. I need to move somewhere warmer with more civilized supplies at hand. ;)

Just waiting till my wife finishes grad school.

Jim

P.S. any retailers that ship absinthe have the Vieux Carre?

I just got through perusing the latest (March/April) edition of Imbibe magazine. There's a nice article about Philadelphia and the drinking scene there, and mentions Philadelphia Distilling and their products (Bluecoat Gin & Vieux Carre Absinthe). Also a fine picture of master distiller Robert Cassell (plus some of his copper porn).

I'm finishing off this fine February Saturday evening with some VC. It is transparently obvious that Rob knows what he is doing.

Where the hell is Rob? C'mon guy, we're singing praises to your swill! When are you going to get Vieux Carre to your adoring fans? :wave2:

Yeah you would think he's busy distilling or something.

I gotta tell ya, I revisited an open bottle of VC that's been sitting for a while.

Wow has this mellowed, it is sooooooooooooooo good!

My local W&S shop is only a mile from my abode. I love the fact that I can take a leisurely stroll to pick up this terrific product.

You know, I never tried the stuff, never really had the desire. I think it's about presentation, and here "scrapple" has all the negative connotations it probably doesn't have in PA.

Although, I love a good frikandel when visiting Holland, and while some friends happily serve it every Friday at dinner, others turn their noses up at it.

And I'm patiently waiting for the VC to make its way to our ABC stores.

The last time I was in ND I almost got sucked into a tornado some miles west of Bismark. As Maxwell Smart would say, "Missed me by that much".
