From what I've read, you should now jump on an Edouard Pernod sample, I'm pretty sure it will fit your tastes perfectly, it has the same 'masculinity' (that's how I always describe E.P. compared to P.F. by the way).

Cheers, guys. I'm enjoying writing these reviews. I have a moleskine book that I've labelled "Adventures In Alcohol" where I keep all my tasting notes and cocktail experiments. I've discovered that after many years of typing on computers, my handwriting is utter crap!

 

MThuilli, I probably prefer the 'girly' absinthes, but only just. That's what's so great about absinthe, all the variety.

Pre-ban On The Rocks! Blasphemy!

On the second glass, the water had become too warm for my liking so I did the unthinkable and added a couple of rocks. It's my pre-ban and I can drink it the way I like! :)

PF 1910

 

Edouard Pernod (Lunel) 1880

 

PF 1914

 

And PF 1914 "green" is in transit somwhere in the postal system (crossing my fingers)...

I am sitting on a couple samples of 1880 Edouard Pernod myself. Two questions for you, Rimbaud, or anyone, I guess. Do you add sugar to pre-ban? I know it's a personal pref. But I am curious. Second, I have a bottle of PF that has been in transit through USPS for some time. Hopefully it gets here. A little nervous...but anywho....I am trying to find a spinal stent hypodermic to sample from the bottle, but I am finding it impossible to find. I have been searching the ER for an alternative, but no luck. Any ideas?

If you normally use sugar with modern absinthe, use sugar with pre-ban absinthe. I'd go easy, though. You don't want to over-sugar & ruin a perfectly good and rare glass of pre-ban.
