A very interesting article from the NY Times about how blogging and the online communities associated with them, are changing the fragrance industry. You might think this doesn't apply to liquors, but I think it already does to a lesser extent. An interesting read. imo.

I think it's cool that respectful attention and consideration is being given to blogging communities by the executives of so many different industries. I never considered that fragrance would be one such community, but that was just lack of forethought on my part. Awesome!


In his book, he recalled that as little as a year ago, Le Labo, a small New York perfumer, refused to send him samples, its makers sneering that “writing about perfume is like dancing about architecture.”


Wasn't that originally a Frank Zappa quote? With "perfume" being swapped out for "music"?
