Hello All
I am Allen and a newbie. I used to live in Queen Anne in Seattle among many other locals but a Coast Guard career can do that but now I work and reside in Monterey CA. I would like to think of myself as one since way back would pay the extra for quality stuff and explore many great drinks from beer to wines. Mostly I enjoy seeking out good foriegn beverages and mixing out of Mr. Boston's. I read of late all the articles about Absinthe in the SF papers and such. BUT I would like to thank the owners of this site which gave me better insight on this great exlier. Before I plunked down good money for bad booze I read the FQ, the reviews and then made my modest purchases. Kübler, Lucid, St. George's and Penrod. Invited some friends and began the tasting. One friend brought over some Czech stuff she had from a trip after one glass that was sent packing while we finished off the rest. Kübler is my current favorite with Lucid being second for "daily use" with St. George I feel is for special occassions.

So I would like to introduce myself and look forward to reading, interacting with you and trying your suggestions.

Thank You

Well done! Yes, our host is first rate. Now, if we could get everyone to follow your wise lead and read the reviews and FAQs. ;)

Thank You

Welcome fenian! Yes, listen to the gentleman who posted above us! Not only 2 miles from physical ground zero, but from the virtual one as well. There's a very handy link to the Newcomer's Introductions section in his sig ;)

And I as a fellow newbie, I also recently made the faux pas of quoting the post above mine (swore I read the etiquette section before posting, but those Reply buttons can be easy to mix up at first).

But in the meantime, a big  from Beacon Hill in Seattle!

Good catch, GB. It was such an obvious Intro, I didn't even notice it was in the wrong section. Let me just whip-out my Super Cool Mod Skilz....

Welcome from the Rockies
Litany against fear of Absinthe - I must not fear Absinthe. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my Absinthe. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the Absinthe has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I work and reside in Monterey CA.

I used to live there during the second half of the 1980s. I recall watching Paramount filming a Star Trek movie at the aquarium by cannery row. I haven't visited in many years and can only imagine how it's changed since the army moved out of Fort Ord and a university moved in. If it's still in Carmel, check out the Hog's Breath Inn.
