Hello everyone,

I'm a student in university Montreal, i finished my minor in Japanese and i'm now doing a major in Germanistik (german studies). I got into the absinthe world a few years ago when i first saw a bottle of Versinthe at my local SAQ distributor. At the time it was the only thing available. After some time i found Czech websites, at that time i had no clue what was the differance between a genuine absinthe and a czech one but their webshop didnt inspire me confidence and i felt that something was not quite right so i never ordered and continued drinking the only brands available to us at the liquor store.

After that i continued to search the web and found at post by Alan from absinthe-suisse on "heure verte" that refered to a forum and group for people in Canada so i joined and finally found a way to finally taste genuine absinthes. Its been close to a year now and so far these are the absinthes i have been able to taste: Libertine Amer 68, Clandestine la bleue, Un …mile 68 (verte et blanche), Eichelberger limitťe 68, Duplais verte (2 years old), Monmartre (1 year old i think, the first batch), Roquette 1797, Tabou (Okanagan spirits, Canada), Serpis 65 and all of those sold at the liquor store (Versinthe, Denoix, Pernod 68, Absente)

Other then absinthe i really enjoy all types of Sake and japanese liquor (especially those eaux-de-vie from Kyushuu and Okinawa) and other spirits and cocktails.I'm still working on a student tight budget but i cant wait to start building myself a decent home bar.

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone here at WS!

Thanks everyone for the welcomes.

I have Japanese friends that send some to me or bring some back when they come visit. But if you live in the US its easier to find as you can order it from webshops. Most of them are in Japanese and its hard to navigate in a webstore in Japanese.

Shōchū: Is a distilled eaux-de-vie http://en.wikipedia....g/wiki/ShŇćchŇę

Umeshu: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umeshu

Artisanale Sake is also very tasty : http://fr.wikipedia....Nigori_sake.jpg

The fine spirit corner also sells Japanese Whisky, both fresh and up to 10 years aged. I never tasted that one so i cant say if its good.

I'll try to find a good webstore that ships to the US and post it when i found one

Hi! :wave2:
Some folks may cringe each time I use the term "Booze" regarding these high quality drinks.
I mean no offense. There are bottles of extraordinary booze out there. I've tasted a few. Relax.

Never had any of the Nikka line, but I can attest to the loveliness of the entire Suntory line.

I've enjoyed the Choya as well. I've had one variety of Shōchū, but I can't remember for the life of me what variety it was. I should dig deeper and acquire more. :)
