Your Top Ten Commercial Absinthes

Recommended Posts

Living in Pennsylvania, my top-ten list is:

1. "Cannot ship to PA"

2. "Cannot ship to PA"

3. "Cannot ship to PA"

etc etc

Try searching on the form at the bottom of this page.

There are a few absinthes that you can get in PA on a Special Order of just one bottle, including La Clandestine, Butterfly, Giger and Cooper & Kings.

wren have you used absinthes.com or drinkup.ny? catskill cellars in another one. I live in York, pa and I've been able to get plenty. warning-- absinthes.com shipping is really expensive. if you're going to use them it's best to load up to get the free shipping. on a side note, why is no one mentioning the new Sauvage coming out? seems that would have been a topic on here years ago

Okay, now I have ten:

Jade Terminus

Jade CF Berger

Meadow of Love

Jade Esprit Edouard

Jade Nouvelle Orleans

View Pontarlier

Jade 1901

Jade VS 1898

Duplais Verte

La Clandestine

While I very much enjoy them all the Terminus has some real teeth to it that I really like. I suspect that Marteau does too, so that's my next bottle.

1- Meadow of Love

2- Walton Waters

3- Jade Terminus (only Jade I've had)

4- Redux

5- Vieux Pontarlier

6- Pacifique

7- Berthe de Joux

8- Marteau (grain base version, only one i've had unfortunately. it's still good though)

9- Leopold Bros

10- Ridge Blanche (haven't had ridge/vilya verte or it would probably edge this one out since I don't really care for blanches)

i've probably only had around 5 other brands so that should be considered i guess. people might remember me griping about the marteau in the thread for it. crazily enough about halfway through the bottle, somehow or another it tastes really good now. the flavor that was off-putting about it for me is still there but not overpowering anymore, and actually harmonizes with everything else in a nice way. can't explain how that happened, but it is what it is.

wish i could edit the last post! completely forgot i have a bottle of La Grenouille, which should go somewhere above the Vieux Pontarlier, if not all the way to number 1. I save it for special occasions and haven't really thought about how it compares to the others when drinking it, so i'm not sure where i'd put it yet.
