Fly The Southern CA Skies

Recommended Posts

To all present Greetings :wave2:

I have been busy these past weeks and after much ado, I take this opportunity to announce that I have been selected and have accepted the opportunity to work for the FAA, as an Air Transportation System Specialist/Electronics Technician pending a successful background check (crosses fingers).

This position will allow me to better enjoy the fruits of the makers samples and per chance to come more often to a tasting near you. :drunk:

Congratulations, sounds like a great opportunity, and I will feel safer when I fly knowing that there is an Absinthiste tinkering with the airplanes!

My Dad taught at the FAA center there in Oklahoma City for years. He was an air traffic controller for a long time, then retired just before the Reagan shit hit the fan. After many years of trying to cajole him back, he relented enough to go teach. I think they were out there for almost ten years - long enough for my younger sister to meet the man of her dreams and drag him back to God's country here in New England. He's a good boy, though.

Good luck! I know I wouldn't have wanted to have my dad as a teacher - man, what a tough grader! I hear something like 80% of the controller trainees flunk out of the course, but it doesn't sound like you'll be on that tough track.

I was an AF ATC radar repairman(survallence&precision), Wray, in the mid 70's... we fought mostly hot, cranky tubes in the radar sets back then :torch: , the digital stuff nowadays has gotta be sooo much better I bet.. B)

I understand. Isn't it fun being a newbie?

At the farm where I work, I get a lot of the jobs that the family hates. I think this family doesn't like farming. Though, so far I've avoided slaughtering chickens.

I keep telling myself the only reason to have a job is to stay off the streets and buy absinthe.
