I got an awesome early Christmas present from my girlfriend this week! It's certainly not an antique but I thought it was very unique! I'm using distilled water for it, because I have no idea how I'd clean out inner sphere and I don't want mineral deposits. It certainly makes a nice display piece on top of our liquor cabinet, and is my first actual fountain outside of a sports bottle.

I like! A lot.

Yes, I'm Krinkles the Clown on an absinthe a beer bender.

You got a problem with that?

Love the glasses.
Some folks may cringe each time I use the term "Booze" regarding these high quality drinks.
I mean no offense. There are bottles of extraordinary booze out there. I've tasted a few. Relax.

Nice! The glasses imply a louche, simply by the illusion of motion in their design.

Nice I like that idea.
I'm enjoying it right now actually, although all I have is Sirene (it's the best I can buy locally). After Christmas will come an online order! Glad you all approve!

It's huge, mesmerizing and modern, the glasses tie it in well too. It adds to the beauty that your gf got it for you!

Sirene, is that the absinthe built in the Chicago area?

The whole setup is very pretty. I'd like to find some glasses that are similar.

I like the fountain also. Cleaning may be a chore. I have ideas about it though.

Enjoy your gift. Cheers!

Yep that's the stuff. It's the best available at liquor stores around here as I'm not a big fan of St. George, which is basically the only other type nearby.

I'm all ears on cleaning ideas if ya have em. I've been told a light vinegar solution would work every now and then.

Sorry for the crappy phone photo this is my brilliant little make do setup. Irish coffee glass, olive spoon balanced with another spoon, and a 1$ vinegar bottle to achieve the slow drip without mess.

My first spoons will hopefully arive next week

Edit: it won't let me upload the pic

It has been a while since I posted my collection here. I have had a few new pieces come in since then: Cusenier balancier, Les Tour Eiffel 1 & 3, Dutruc pyrogene, Pernod SA Tarragona set, Junod loupe carafe, and a few other odds and ends. Next up, I HAVE to find an ouraline torsade and a nice 4 or 5 star spoon or two. Sorry for the quality of photos.. I am no photographer and can't seem to get any to look halfway decent. I feel like I am finally getting to where I eventually wanted the collection to go. I am still a long ways off though.

Lovely!  I wish I could display my collection like this, on open shelves!  Kids, a dog, and a parrot flapping about make for a dangerous ending however.

So, they sit behind glass, close together in one cabinet, where they are safe.  You are displaying them so beautifully, too. I've seen quite a few of these when they were available, and am happy they found their way to someone who loves them so much!

Impressive!

If you don't like anise at all, you're not likely to care for any decent absinthe, as absinthe is an anise flavored drink. It's kind of like asking if there are any good beers that don't taste like hops or malt.----Hiram

Thanks everybody! I feel like I am making progress. I just have this vision in my head and I am sure you know how that goes.. almost a compulsion to keep driving forward. My only limitation however are the financials  :secret2:.

Scott, I hear you on the kids, etc! I have to children, a daughter that is a hair over 2.5 and my son just turned 1. Also two dogs and a cat. What you can't see in the photos is that the case has a pair of the door on the front, which stay closed. They are paper thin leaded glass from about 1890-1900 though.. so I still sweat bullets. I just can't bring myself to move everything somewhere safer. Right now it sits in the middle of our dining room. I have some pieces that I use more than others, but I have made a point to use every single piece in there too.
