  1. Tell me about it. Last night's enthusiasm (and the medicinal absinthe) have given way to this morning's muscle pain and a handful of aspirin. I am breaking ground that hasn't been disturbed since the last ice age. I'm beginning to believe my new tiller is evil. I name it: A-Tiller-the-Hun." I hate breaking new ground. I usually pay someone with a plow if I can find them. I've got a Troybuilt Pony (5HP) that I bought in 1990. I just pulled the papers on it and it says it has a "No Time Limit Warranty". I wonder if they will send me a new set of bearings and seals for the tine shaft? Nope, cheked the web site and they want $54.97 including shipping. Oh well. Guess I'll make a trip to Dixie Bearing Company again and see what they want for the parts.
  2. I could use some medicine. I spent the day working in the yard for the most part. Filling in low spots, sowing grass seed, setting up hop beds and getting the dog a hair cut. I'm trying to border the front porch with white scallop border and river pebbles, but Evil Wally Land saw fit to discontinue the border I started last year. I'm trying to change to red from white border but it is a pia to do.
  3. I'll have to dig out my Martin Remy VSOP for TdT tomorrow. Tonight is BABE. A 1.084 OG Pumpkin spice beer followed by a 1.200 braggot aged in oak. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
  4. Lomo, It's not really cooking. More like salt cured pork loin hanging in my garage.
  5. easy Pork lo mein for lunch. two packs of frozen mixed vegetables (Brocoli, carrots, coliflour, water crest, peppers, celery) three quarts water tablespoon mushroom soy sauce tablespoon bullion boil veges till almost done add one crushed thai pepper chop up some left over pork loin and add it throw in a pack of noodles simmer a minute and shut off Let it set till the noodles are done.
  6. Belgian Single with Delirium Tremens culture from a bottle for the yeast. At room temp like an English ale it is quite different.
  7. My wife managed to get this for me today, it's the 1941 edition. It also had a 1947 copy of the Waring Blender PICKUPS AND CHEERUPS brochure in side it.
  8. A box arrived yesterday for tonight's beer tasting. I think it is going to be a bad night. Three 220z bombers, two RIS one IIPA. Someone is going to be hurting tomorrow. I think I'll have a glass of Absinthe to pre-condition my liver beforehand.

  11. The Remy goes well in TdT with teh Eddy in my opinion. YMMV.
  12. I started the night with a TdT, a burger clone and nice brandy. Since it is a 'Big Ass Beer Exchange' (BABE) night, I hit the beer at 10pm with a Trippel, followed by a Old ALe and now on to a Wheat Wine. No beer less than 9%abv. I suspect I will regret this in the morning, afternoon, night, etc....

  15. Thanks Bill. I found that recipe on line a couple of days ago and figured it would work well with a sourdough starter. It did. Easy recipe from: Bread Recipe It is probably one of the easiest breads I've ever made. I'm also experimenting with a dry-cure ham called Lomo that is made from pork loin. I put 6# of it in the refrigerator to start aging today.
  16. Wife is down with the flu, so I'm home making 'Jewish Penicillin' for her. I figured I'd try a Sun-Dried Tomato/Asiago/Basil no kneed bread. The bread is great !
  17. I havn't seen anyone mention Miller's lately. I like it a tad better than the Plymouth. No elk here, but I did see a white tail doe (inside the city) when I drove to the grocery store last night.
