  1. Do you mean "what are the odds that any pre-ban blanche that shows up shortly for sale or trade is going to be accepted as genuine?"

    Why would you take it as that? I was wondering, after reading the book, how much White there was vs. Green. All the artifacts I've seen were for "Green" vertes. The "White" seems very rare and wondered if Oxy ever ran across any. It was an interesting observation from the book "200 Years of Pernod"

     

    I don't care about the trade of the stuff or if anything pops up as "genuine". What is your point Hiram? I don't really understand.


  2. Read through Marie-Claude Delahaye's book, 200 Years of Pernod, and had some questions:

     

     

    1. Edouard Pernod, before 1914, offered a "White" absinthe (blanche), for sale outside of France. Have any bottles surfaced? I've only seen vertes, or the bottles labeled "Green"

     

     

     

    2. The ship, Marie-Therese, which ran aground and sank in 1871 had 540 bottles of Pernod Fils aboard. Many of the bottles were salvaged and sold at auction in May 1991. Anyone here have one or a picture of one? Oxy? Apparently, the Champagne they brought up was amazing but most of the wines were not.

     

     

    Google searches did not result in any information.

  4. It seems obvious that prototypes, named or numbered in succession, is an ongoing development to an end goal. If the tweaking took 31 batches to finally create Brevans, what is #33? What direction is that one going? Or is it not going in any direction but starting all over and picking up with #33? And was there a #32? Was Brevans intended as the final product when they started with prototype #1? I would love to hear from Markus on this.


  5. Of course you all have the possibility taking influence on development - however therefore it is necessary to try the Prototype - now...

     

    We all know about aging, but I don't think opening a bottle, trying one or two glasses and than putting it back on the shelf, is going to destroy the content. See what I mean?

     

    If the #31 turned into Brevans, what happened to #32 and what will #33 ultimately lead to?


  6. I thought the base was too slim but it's not. I filled it with water the first time and tilted the base in a few directions - nothing moved, didn't tip over, and none of the velcro gave way. It's pretty nice actually. Handles tall glasses with wide bases (East). Asking only $70 + $10 shipping.

    Velcro: $20 - this is the industrial version - super strong

  7. Would anyone be interested in buying a home-made fountain that works and looks great? I'll post a picture in a few minutes. I took time putting it together. I waited to find just the right base and jar. I also have 4 of the silver spigots that weren't used. There's two gold ones on there now and I have the other two gold ones that I didn't use. I was intending on making it a four spout, which it could easily be made into, but I settled for two since only I was using it. There's a thick foam on top of the base, industrial velcro holds the jar so you can easily clean it and fill it. I'll throw in the four silver spouts.

     

    It stands about 22 inches tall. There's 11 inches under the spouts. Works with even the largest East glasses. Holds enough ice and water for about 8 drinks. I've used this one about 10 times. Works perfect. I used the right kind of sealant also - no odor or taste whatsoever.

     

    Looking for about $70 considering all the materials (including the 6 extra spigots - 2 gold, four silver).

     

    I'm in the US so shipping isn't much. PM me if you want it.

  8. I happen to take a look tonight and my A.a. has grown about 4 inches today. Almost to my knee with lots of vertical growth and larger leaves. I think it was just taking its sweet time starting. It's the first full year for this one. :yahoo:

  9. I've been reading...and biting my tongue.

     

    I know its been said repeatedly but - I absolutely hate that we give Hills/Sebor/Czech-sinth ANY validity at all. Wasn't one of the main goals of these forums to inform people that the crap (Czech-sinth) is not absinthe, never was, never will, and to be avoided at all costs - NO MATTER WHAT.

     

    The fact that we mention this turpentine-mouthwash in the same breathe as "absinthe" makes me ill. I know it's not going away any time soon but we sure are giving it credit aren't we? I vote we keep the "it's not absinthe or absinth" mantra going.


  10. It's a toss-up. I'm with Verte, definitely an Artemisia. Looking at the closeflying monkeys, I was going to say absinthium, but in the picture with the sandal, it looks like the scale of the leaves is too small and fine. I'm going to say it's Powis Castle. If it's absinthium, it should start to send up some flowering stalks before long. If it grows more bushy and tree-like, it's PC.

     

     

    I should add that I wear a size 15 shoe. A lot of things look smaller next to my feet.

     

    Did it come with a tag?

     

     

    No, I bought it from ebay.fr early last year.
