  1. I do love single barrel Bourbon as well.
  2. Ten years ago I bought a bottle of Jade Edouard and it is still sealed in a cool dry place within my basement. It is getting harder and harder not to open it. Waiting for a special occasion but my other supplies are dwindling. I'm trying for another 10 years. Has anyone tried the other Combier offerings besides Jade liqueurs?
  3. I have a bottle of 2006 Edouard that I have in the basement with the wax still on the cork. So far, 7 years. Waiting until maybe 10 or as long as I can. Can't wait to open it now and see what happens.
  4. Hey guys, What ever happened to the Belle Amie Absinthe? I have some left, but is it made under another name? Any info would be great. Thanks,
  5. I've been away for awhile. I haven't kept up on the absinthes available in the US. I still have some Belle Ami and an unopened bottle of Jade Edouard from Sept. 2006. Can anyone suggest an absinthe available in the US? And do you feel the absinthes available in the US are better/worse than the European like the Jade line? gfpoet
  6. Just wondering if any of you could help me out with the age of some whiskey that someone gave me. They told me it is over 30 years old, but want to be sure. It is a bottle of Seagrams VO in a box. The only numbers I see at a quick glance is 0672 on the bottom of the bottle. Does anyone know what this means? I'm thinking it may mean June 1972, but not sure. Does anyone know for sure?
  7. Hey Bluescat, I enjoy the Angelique also. Maybe if we had a top 15....
  8. Wow, Tough call Here's mine: 1. Jade PF 1901 2. Belle Amie 3. Jade Edouard 4. Duplais Balance 5. La Clandestine Charlotte (wine based) 6. 1797 Roquette 7. Marteau 8. Duplais verte 9. Jade Verte Suisse 10. Jade Nouvelle Orleans I have not yet tried the Doubs Mystique.
  9. Well, I took the advice and bought some Asti which is sweet. So far I tried it with CLB wine base and it was pretty good. Now, I'm drinking it with the Marteau and it is incredible!! I guarantee if you use the Marteau you will not be disappointed. Thanks again Hiram! I used Sant'Orsola Asti. Next, I'm going to try Sant'Orsola Brachetto D'acqui (which is red with the La Maitresse Rouge. Thanks for all the advice everyone!!
  10. The Belle amie is Awesome!! Especially without the sugar just the way I like it. I'm definitely going to have to order another bottle and soon!!!
  11. I agree with T73. Go with what you mentioned earlier.
  12. Well, I just ordered a bottle of Belle Ami and a bottle of the new rouge which I'm looking forward to. Last month I tried the Mansinthe, the Marteau, the Angelique, and the 1797. All very good. I did find that the 1797 does not have much of a louche. The Marteau is very very good. The Angelique I find to be different, but very good as well. As you can see there isn't much I don't like. Maybe because of an untrained palate, I don't know. I'm sure I'll enjoy the Belle Ami and La Maitresse. Thanks,
  13. Anyone have any insider info with regard to the Belle Amie that LDF is offering?
  14. First off, looks like you had a great trip!!! I pulled the website off the sign in the photo: www.lamaisondupastis.com They actually have that custom verte on the website for sale and the site is also in English. Maybe I'll give it a shot.
  15. I'm headed out to Sacramento / San Fran area next week to visit a friend. Just wanted to know if any restaurant or bar at least served Lucid?? Also, is the Absinthe restaurant in San Fran any good??? Thanks for your help
  16. Tried the Camachos. Rather pricey for me so only bought 2 or 3. I found it to be a very good and enjoyable smoke. Searched on the net to see if I could buy a box cheaper. I only found one site that has them and that's www.arnoldstobacco.com. Not a bad price, but only 18 in a box. I may buy a box next month when I finish my CAO's. All in all, I really enjoyed it. Thanks again for the info!!!!
  17. Thanks for the info on the Camacho will give them a try. I also agree with the 1926's . I have a couple in my humidor now, but like to wait for certain occasions. The regular Padron maddies are already my favorite everyday smoke along with some Partagas Black label. For some reason I find a Partagas Black goes very well with a black (with a little sugar) cup of coffee first thing in the morning. I enjoyed the CAO MX2, but getting tired of it for some reason. One tastes fine, then the next not so good. Probably just me. So I went back to Padron. Will definitely try the Camacho. Thanks again!!
  18. Was wondering if anyone knew of any other brands of cigars besides the CAO MX2 that uses a maduro binder as well as wrapper??? Or anyone have a favorite full-bodied cigar - brand and name??
  19. Hi everyone, Sorry to bother everyone, but I need some advice about exposing new people to Absinthe. I'm planning on having a Happy hour this week and of course, Absinthe will be there. Problem is people I work with do not know anything about Absinthe. So, this is what I was going to do: Send an email invite and within the email talk a little bit about it and attach theFAQ link from this website to give them more information. I will also be limiting each person to 2 glasses because I do not want to deplete my entire stock. Problem is, theFAQ talks about Absinthe being illegal in the US. I don't know how the people I work with will take that once they read about it. So do I or don't I attach the link???? Maybe I'm just being to careful or cautious I do not know. Any advice would be helpful. Once again, sorry to bother everyone with trivial matters!!
  20. I enjoy the Duplais and Jade Verte's without sugar. I find them to be naturally sweeter then the Blanche's. The Blanche's I enjoy with just 1 sugar cube. I too bought the Strong 68 and the moulin Vert 68. I actually dumped the Strong after I had 2 to 3 glasses. I still have half a bottle of the Vert. Keeping it around to show people what Absinthe shouldn't taste like. I would recommend any of the Jades. Although, after trying the line I do like the Edouard. Maybe because of the 72% instead of 68%. The Duplais balance is good also. If your looking for definitely a different taste, then try the Monmartre. It is very good and a bit spicy. A lot of "seasoned" Veterans like that one.
  21. Sounds good!! Quarterly works well. I suggest 4 sections: 1. Reviews like Shabba53 mentioned 2. Then talk about the postives and negatives (healing properities etc.) of just 1 herb in Absinthe per quarter. 3. Maybe get some interviews with Absintheurs (hope I spelled that right.) and/or some manufacturers if willing. 4. Vintage times. Maybe some pics and articles/reviews of the old absinthes. Article on the old distilleries, absinthe bar in NO, etc. May help to get Absinthe legalized and help people in US and all over the world exposed to Absinthe. A quarterly magazine is a very good idea!!!!!
  22. I tried something that Shabba53 did. He mixed the Dalmore Cigar Malt with some Perique. I must say that it does kick a** Thanks Shabba53!!!!
  23. I like the CAO MX2 which has a Brazilian Maduro binder and a Conn. Madure wrapper. I tried it with Jade PF1901. It was definitely a treat. I will have to try an Onyx at some point. Still doing some research though. I'm going to try a CAO CX2 which has a Cameroon binder and cameroon wrapper although it may be too spicy. I will let you know.
  24. Shinsain, Thanks for the article. It is very helpful because I'm trying to do as much research as possible on this subject. The problem is that there is not much out there. The reason why is as follows: I usually drink Absinthe on Friday and Saturday nights. I also have 2 glasses each night a glass each from different brands. I have the Kübler, the full Jade line, the full Duplais line, and CLB. I have experienced no hallucinations. It's relaing me so much that it knocks me out. The only problem is that the next morning, my eyes literally hurt and the back of my head hurts to the point that it feels like my head is going to fall off. Don't know yet if its the Absinthe or another problem, but I'm going to take notice to how I feel after imbibing more often. This leads me to my next point: Why doesn't someone research ABSINTHE and not frickin' Wormwood oil!!!! There are actually other ingredients besides Wormwood. These other ingredients may or may not enhance the properties of Wormwood. What would be nice would be a catalog of the Thujone content within the modern day Absinthe like the Jades, Duplais, etc. even the Czech-sithes - all analyzed the same way. That way people can make their own decision about what brand they want to drink, nad why to drink it. Any Chemists out there!!!!! The makers may have a problem with the above because it may divulge too much information to the public. I do not know though. To some it may or may not be a good marketing tool. Of cour
  25. The word for today is "tease." If you tease enough that little man in the boat will row faster and faster and faster.
