2 out of six guests (Sonny Meadows and Chas Fink) were here for a 3 hour sharing of absinthe and good company. Bill (Chas Fink) made Sazeracs for us, and we sampled at least 5 absinthes. Everyone swooned over Marteau....(yes, I happily shared it with them.) Gwydion, you have something special there.
Walton Waters was also highly appreciated. (Yes, Cheryl, I shared that too...what can I say, I like my friends!)
If our event in the Catskills will be anything like this, it will be one special day!
Chas Fink brought a goat brie...that goat snuck up on me. Good people, good absinthe, great night!

It's always nice to have fellow WS members sharing drinks with you!

No photos? What's up with that?
It sounds like a fine evening!

Damn! So busy having fun, we forgot to take pictures! Sorry Joe! The only thing missing was Ridge!
(Perhaps there will be some ready for the Catskills event in October?)

2 WS members at my home tonight!
Did you check their bags before they left?!

You have to be careful when WS members show up. Sometimes they leave their booze behind. Not a bad thing at all.

Glad your event went well. Cameras are pretty much part of the package though. The proof is in the pix.
Cheers!

At very least by December so we have something to put on our Christmas wish lists?

I hereby publicly thank sbmac for graciously inviting me to this event. It was the best time I ever had with 6 virtual strangers. I thought I had tasted much of the variety of the absinthe world, but last night expanded my perspective by an order of magnitude.
On the way home I had a revelation. I was much more joyful and clear-headed than if the drink of choice was beer, whiskey, or even Coca-Cola. It's no wonder that so many vintage photos show absinthe being enjoyed in happy, casual, good company! It truly is in a class by itself.
Thanks again, and here's a toast to making the phrase
"Taste the goatTM" part of the vernacular!

Hey Bill, it was great having you! You fit right in, and everyone enjoyed your company.
Thanks for bringing the goat brie. "Taste the goat" will be on t-shirts and bumper stickers after Pedro's
comment "You know, I can taste the goat".

Love the "taste the goat" thing - I must use that one next time we get some goat or sheep cheese.

Goat cheese is my personal kryptonite...I run screaming from it. All goes dark. Fetal position.
It all goes back to Paris where I ate some black, yes black goat cheese that I tasted and felt in my body for a week. I smelled road kill everywhere I went, finally realizing it was the remnants of this fine French cheese wicking out of my pores. It was the black hole of goat cheese, and should be used as a Clockwork Orange type of reform treatment/torture. In fact if Anthony Burgess had sampled this cheese, it is what Alex would have been subjected to during his transformation.
In Chas Fink's defense, HIS goat brie only made me wince mildly. THAT was amazing.

sorry sbmac, but goat brie is my favorite with absinthe before dinner or for dinner, oh hell I could live on absinthe and goat brie or a triple cream brie if I had to.

Right there with on on the brie, or (really ripe Camembert) just leave the goat out in the meadow!
