I just got my East Absinthe glass and, wow, is mine a mutant? This thing is way to big to be used in a responsible way. Gladly, I'm irresponsible, but still...

They can be big. A proper absinthe made with 1.5 oz will be a 9 oz drink.

I don't know if they exist or not, but I've never seen an East glass that wasn't pretty damn huge.

They do, more or less.

Well, the shape, with a smaller size, exists, but it's difficult to difficult to tell whether or not it's an absinth glass or a balustered mazagran.
Saw one, with this distinctive purple tint that east glasses can have, last same week end.

Oh ! and a good example of a normally sized east glass is the most beautiful out there, the "hanhart esser thann"

So anyway, yeah, your typical east glass is huge. Here on the right is a bottle of Duplais, 1 liter

mines really not that big... it's 3.1 at about halfway

Hmmm... 3:1 only half fills it. I wonder what that could mean?

this isnt as wide or really as large as the reproduction ones
I can tell a difference just by looking pictures and comparing them

If you think about the glass dimensions, that probably is about halfway full.

Let me explain with the analogy of a pint glass:

The majority of the volume in a standard US pint glass is in the top part of the glass (because it’s wider) and if a beer is poured just ½-inch from the top, you’re losing 13% of what you paid for. If the pour stops an inch from the top, an astonishing 25% of the beer is missing!

Hence, the invention of the Piaget Beer Gauge. smile.gif

I think it is perfect at that level in the glass...lets you swirl the drink without spilling any

I like it usually at 3-3.5 to 1-1.5 at the lower levels

First off, the thing doesn't fit under my fountain dribble.gif

But, at least this might spur me to practice my carafe skills, because my broullie doesn't even fit it.

Should I assume that, supposing i fill it to the dose line, a full glass is the equivalent of a normal pontarlier glass filled all the way? Or will I have to experiment here? Which is fine.
