I'm lost. What's the problem with the recipe? The use of Herbsaint?

pt447, that's more or less the traditional preparation except you wouldn't shake it, you'd stir it. That's called a "rinse"; just enough to coat the glass.
However, absinthe is not a liqueur and Herbsaint is not absinthe (yet).
QUOTE
The Sazerac
1 tsp. Absinthe liqueur (preferably Herbsaint)
1 1/2 to 2 oz. Rye Whiskey (preferably Old Overholt)
1 sugar cube
several dashes Peychaud’s bitters

I was refering to this:
"Coat the inside of a cocktail glass with the Herbsaint and pour out the excess."
Why would you waste perfeclty good absinthe, presuming you actually use absinthe?
I should have been more clear but I was at the end of my lunch hour!

That's the actual process. It should only be a rinse.

They just suggest you pour it out, they don't suggest what into. The sink or a funnel on top of your bottle is up to you.

I put it in the next glass I'm going to use. *devil*

Well then I retract my statement. All the recipes I've ever seen never mentioned just a rinse.

My feelings, too. I like a tad more absinthe flavor than provided by a rinse, thank-you-very-much.

Jonathan, here's my advice: Ship yourself off to a foreign country for a year. By the time you get back, there should be plenty to go around!

That's one method.

Seriously, we expect our first delivery of neutral spirits to arrive in the next few days. We hope to submit formulas to the Feds in the next few weeks. With some luck, we may ship our first order to the Montana State liquor warehouse before the first day of spring. Thanks for asking!

I can't speak for Bill, but I'll be looking to have you sign one of the first batch bottles for me.
