The history of the drink is very convincing hysterical.gif.

The Euphorizer seems to be just another shitty alco-pop that envenoms our shops more and more.

Worth noting, being made according to old historical recipe, why the historical ritual is NOT mentioned or suggested?

I think because phrases like "We recommend preparing it according to the historical ritual of dumping it down the sink," don't make for good advertising.

This is something from Palirna u zeleneho stromu, since Prostejov is theirs, other information reads so well that I cannot stop laughing.

It cannot be wormwood vodka or wormwood-flavoured vodka (piołunówka) since: it should contain only one ingredient- wormwood and after distillation (if there was one as in the case of babicka) should be coloured with caramel.

It is interesting that they are moving from Absinth Dabel and such PuZS has committed but they could modify or delete the nonsense presented in the following parts of innocuosly looking site.

Thanks Alan abs-cheers.gif for bringing these inventions, we know now what to avoid.

You are just trying to start another martini fight, Alan!

At least...at the very least...they don't claim Wormwood Vodka will make you hallucinate. Vaguely suggested, perhaps. Actually, if it has a nice wormwood flavor, it might be a vodka I would enjoy.

Wow, an absinthe soda! I can't wait for the TV commercials! I picture it thusly:

A beautiful day at the beach, where a group of good looking young adults (generously populated with bikini clad girls) sits moping.
"Man" says one guy, "this beach party is like, nowhere."
"Yeah..." chimes one waif.
"Have another brewski, Eddie!"
"No thanks, Moon Dog, these beers just seem so, well, boring."
"Yeah..." chimes another waif.

Suddenly the music rises, and three figures struggling with a large cooler can be seen down the beach.
Eddie jumps up, and excitedly shouts "Hey! It's the Belle Epoque boys!"
Oscar Wilde, Vincent Van Gogh and Toulouse Lautrec come into view, swinging a cooler bristling with ice and absinthe soda.
"Let's get this party started!" shouts Van Gogh
"Yeah!" chimes yet a third waif.
"Right on! You wanna brewski, Vinny?"
"No thanks, Eddie! beer is so... so 'Academy!' Crack open one of these wormwood wonders and you'll see why!"
All the kids crowd around the cooler, grabbing bottles, popping caps, guzzling, the sun glinting off the bottles and the blond hair of the beach girls.

"Anybody for some skinny dipping?" cries Lautrec.
One girl screams in mock indignation, "Why Toulouse!"
"Well, they don't call me 'too loose' for nothing, baby!" Lautrec shouts as he heads for the water.
"Yeah!!" chimes a fourth waif and all the kids head for the water, laughing, screaming, guitars and hot dogs appearing from nowhere.
"Let's get it started" by the Black Eyed Peas starts pumping.
Van Gogh's face fills the screen. A pause, then a bikini top is playfully thrown and lands on his head... Van Gogh gives a lascivious wink to the camera, and says "Next time YOU want to 'get it started'.." and holds up the absinthe soda bottle. "It's absinthe all the way. Because anything else would be...'secondary.' NOT!"
Van Gogh's face fades, a girl shrieks in the background, cue the bottle and... that's a wrap!

If I were on that beach, my line would be "This shit isn't making me hallucinate, you asshole ghosts lied to me!!!! Wait, you're all from the Czech Republic, right?"

Palirna u zeleneho Stromu is situated in Prostejov and they boast using HANA water (for Hanacka vodka as well), if it was another komanditni spolecnost, palirna would eat them; against all odds, they are doing very good bearing in mind they are making a lot of quality products (Peliskovka, Merunkovice, Slivovice), not assinth alone. (from part: our process).

I thought you saw a direct statement that this Babička stuff was made there. I caught the implied references. And most of the rest of their product line is pretty mediocre, although the Režna and Starorežna are interesting. As is their individual packaging. Anybody going to Boveresse want samples?

Yes, please. One sample of the individual portion would be interesting to show Claude-Alain what other people are doing in other countries.

But surely not an individual absinth? twitchsmile.gif
I may have to put together a sampler.

Maybe you could create an asymmetric two compartment container for the product and water. Just mix, drink and dispose.

I love picking up deadthreads, but this caught my attention, partly because of the other discussion about Absinthe Soda in Mexico, and partly because I just saw that Babicka Vodka (the wormwood vodka) somehow won a Bronze at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2008.

How the heck did that escape notice?

And, even more important, how did this product win? Not that I've tasted it, but still - any product that lists "A silky smooth taint to the palate" among its tasting notes cannot be good. Ain't no taint near my palate! nono.gif

I'll go way the hell out on a limb and give props to the Babushka people. Except for the usual—but admittedly restrained—thujone BS, I have no problems with this product's marketing. In fact, I think it sets an excellent precedent because it's not absinthe and, as far as I've read, they don't pretend that it is. I feel this is a step in the right direction.

If they want to capitalize on the sensational reputation of wormwood, fine, whatever. I hope they're incredibly successful with the stuff, because if the model proves profitable, the rest of the wormwood vodka and schnapps makers (and we all know who they are) will follow suit.

Things like this will actually help define the difference between absinthe and other wormwood spirits. If they hadn't done it, I probably would have.
